Jemele Hill Will Lead TNT Sports Magazine Show ‘Above the Fold’

I am absolutely thrilled about Jemele Hill‘s new venture leading “Above the Fold” on TNT Sports! With her extensive experience and unique perspective on sports and culture, she is undoubtedly the perfect choice to helm this exciting new program.

Jemele Hill will take charge of a sports news magazine program titled “Above the Fold” for TNT Sports’ evening lineup on TruTV. This move aims to expand TruTV’s nighttime programming offerings, as Warner Bros. Discovery strives to establish a more substantial presence in routine sports broadcasting.

Starting this week, Hill, known for his insights on sports and culture, and previously an anchor at ESPN, is set to debut “Above the Fold” every Thursday at 7 p.m. The show premieres initially on October 22 at 5 p.m. This hour-long program will see Hill and a changing panel of experts discussing and debating the latest headlines associated with some of the most significant sports stories from the past week.

The TV series was created by TNT Sports and Uninterrupted, a division of LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s SpringHill Company that specializes in athlete-centric storytelling. Both James, Hill, and Carter are serving as executive producers for the show. Furthermore, TNT Sports and Uninterrupted have plans to develop more projects, which they will announce at a future time.

Hill expressed great enthusiasm about collaborating with TNT Sports and Uninterrupted on a venture focusing on sports journalism and captivating narratives. In a released statement, he commented, ‘The sports media world is consistently changing, yet it continues to have space for intricacy, depth, and unique viewpoints.’

Earlier this month, Warner started the fresh TNT Sports section on TruTV’s broadcasting lineup, aiming to fill it with a variety of content beyond just live sports. This includes movies, reality competition shows, original series, and unique experiences called “alterna-casts” during regular sports matches. The goal for TNT Sports is to air close to 1,000 hours of sports programming on TruTV in 2024, with plans to expand this volume even further in 2025.

Craig Barry, head of content at TNT Sports, stated that Jemele significantly impacts the sports world with her distinct viewpoint. We eagerly anticipate creating a space where we can present thought-provoking and engaging insights to our audience,” (paraphrased from original statement)
