As a seasoned gamer and Age of Empires Mobile enthusiast with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that the tier system for heroes in this game is as precise as a medieval arrow to the heart. Each hero shines in their unique way, providing strategic depth to every battle and resource gathering mission.
In the mobile version of Age of Empires, you’ll find more than 50 diverse characters to enlist. Each one has unique strengths and weaknesses, excelling in specific areas. However, choosing which heroes are worth spending your resources on can sometimes be perplexing. To help with this decision-making process, I’ve created a tier list that includes all the heroes in Age of Empires Mobile. This should assist you in making an informed choice.
Best Heroes in Age of Empires Mobile Tier List
In Age of Empires Mobile, I’ve categorized each hero into four groups based on their effectiveness: S-tier (the most powerful), A-tier, B-tier, and C-tier (the least effective).
Tier | Hero |
---|---|
S | King Arthur, Attila the Hun, Ashoka, Justinian the Great, Diao Chan, Theodora, Frederick Barbarossa, Constantine the Great, Julius Caesar, Philip IV, Sun Tzu |
A | Cleopatra VII, Darius the Great, King Derrick, Tokugawa Ieyasu, Rani Durgavati, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Miyamoto Musashi, Guan Yu, Harald III, Tariq, Hammurabi, Hannibal |
B | Seojong the Great, Queen Seondeok, Bushra, Tribhuwana, Hua Mulan, Octavian, Cid, Oda Nobunaga, Axel, Joan of Arc, Josephine, Richard I, Yi Seong-Gye, Leonidas I, Yi Sun-Shin, Cui Ruyi, |
C | Li Daoxuan, Baldassi, Kaso, Gatos, Clyde, Leo, Luki, Narses, Thanius, Yuan Xia, Gao Meng, Leon, Wu Wei, Nino |
S-Tier Heroes in Age of Empires Mobile
In Age of Empires Mobile, the top-tier characters are exceptional choices. They boast incredibly powerful abilities that excel across various game modes, whether it’s Player versus Player (PvP) or Player versus Environment (PvE). Should you manage to unlock or recruit any of these heroes, it would be wise to focus a significant portion of your Experience Books and Skill Points on their development.
As a gamer, I’ve found that these characters are incredibly versatile, with their skill sets extending far beyond their primary specialties. For instance, King Arthur is a top-tier combatant in Player versus Player (PvP) situations, but his abilities like “Glory of Knight,” which boosts Might, Armor, and Strategy by 40 for 6 seconds, make him an exceptional support hero too. In fact, he shines particularly brightly in Player versus Environment (PvE) modes when used strategically.
Below you’ll find a rundown of top-notch heroes from Age of Empires Mobile, explaining what makes them indispensable for your civilization:
Hero | Reason |
---|---|
King Arthur | The best hero for both PvP and PvE thanks to his overpowered skills. Also great at providing support to other commanders, and in rallies. |
Attila the Hun | Arguably one of the strongest support units in Age of Empires Mobile. Essentially doubles your army’s DPS while lowering the enemy’s armour. Great for any combat scenario. |
Ashoka | Similar to Attila, but provides more buff-oriented support. Extremely strong as a secondary commander. |
Justinian the Great | The best healer in the Age of Empire Mobile. Having him in your army can save thousands of your men from dying in battles. Great especially in PvP combat with drawn-out battles. |
Diao Chan | The best hero for farming and gathering resources. Increases the speed of all resources by almost 90% at maximum skill level. A must-have for early and late-game resource collection. |
Theodora | An overall strong unit, great for combat, support, and can even help in gathering resources. Ideally, you should try using her as a secondary commander to provide your army with a massive stat boost. |
Frederick Barbarossa | A defensive juggernaut that makes your army twice as hard to kill. When paired with a commander like Justinian or King Arthur, you’ll have an almost unbeatable army. |
Constantine the Great | Similar to Frederick, but his defensive skill isn’t as overpowered. However, he makes up for this with his increased attack skills and resource-gathering bonuses. |
Julius Caesar | Strongest hero for every PvE mode, thanks to his turn-based skills. Unfortunately, he doesn’t fare well in PvP. |
Philip IV | A support-oriented attack hero who can buff the army’s stats almost every 3 seconds, making him unbeatable in long battles. |
Sun Tzu | Extremely strong offensive hero who excels in combat (both PvP and PvE). Ideally, he can dominate any PvP encounter with a bit of support or recovery. |
A-Tier Heroes in Age of Empires Mobile
In Age of Empires Mobile, the majority of A-tier heroes are typically those who have achieved Legendary rank and can be recruited from the Tavern. Although they generally possess powerful abilities, their effectiveness tends to diminish significantly as you progress to higher castle levels.
When you’re new to this, it’s acceptable to allocate resources towards them, but try not to spend ability points or books on them. Instead, hold onto those resources for a more advanced character that you may acquire down the line.
Although these heroes might not offer as much flexibility compared to top-tier characters, they excel at their specific tasks, rendering them valuable choices if you’re looking to fulfill particular roles. For instance, Darius the Great possesses a skillset perfect for gathering and resource farming, but he falls short in other combat areas, making him an excellent addition to your gathering force, but not the best pick for any battle.
B-Tier Heroes in Age of Empires Mobile
The B-tier heroes consist of some Legendary-ranked heroes who are relatively weaker and several strong Epic-ranked ones. They can serve as replacements for any vacant positions within your army, just like the A-tier. However, they excel in their specific roles but not to the same extent as those in higher tiers.
As a gamer, I’d recommend adding these heroes to your ranks as secondary commanders or backup options, but they shouldn’t lead your army. If you manage to earn enough character medals to boost them to Rank 2 and above, then they can be seen as potential A-tier heroes.
C-Tier Heroes in Age of Empires Mobile
In Age of Empires Mobile, the C-tier heroes primarily encompass many of the heroes ranked epic, making them your least preferred option across various scenarios such as farming, player versus player (PvP), player versus environment (PvE), and support roles. Regrettably, these heroes generally fail to give you a substantial advantage in their respective roles, even when they are specialized.
To derive any benefit from these units, they should primarily function as secondary commanders. However, this is only effective if you manage to level them up to Rank Three or higher. Keep in mind that they might not measure up against many weaker Legendary Heroes. Therefore, it’s advisable to be cautious when investing resources into them.
