As a movie enthusiast with a penchant for horror and mystery genres, I must say that the trailer for “Devils Stay” has me intrigued! With a strong cast led by Park Shin-yang, Lee Min-ki, and Lee Re, and a plot revolving around exorcism, strange symptoms, and uncovering terrifying truths, this film seems to be a promising addition to the genre.

Korea’s Showbox has unveiled a trailer and a release date for horror mystery “Devils Stay.”

Under the guidance of director Hyun Moon-seop, famously known for “Nightmare Teacher”, the talented ensemble features Park Shin-yang (from “My Lawyer,” “Mr. Jo,” “Man on the Edge,” “The Big Swindle”), Lee Min-ki (“Crash,” “My Liberation Notes,” “Very Ordinary Couple”), and Lee Re (“It’s Okay!,” “Peninsula,” “Hellbound”).

When heart specialist Seung-do (Park Shin-yang) and his wife become increasingly concerned as their daughter So-mi (Lee Re) exhibits bizarre symptoms, they decide to try an exorcism ritual. Upon arrival, priest Ban (Lee Min-ki) believes a devil is possessing her, and the ritual appears to expel it successfully, but ends tragically with So-mi’s sudden demise. As her funeral commences, Seung-do, who suspects she might not actually be dead due to some unusual signs in her body, voices his doubts. No one supports him, particularly priest Ban, who vehemently disagrees and warns that it is the malevolent spirit within her that is causing the illusion. Over the course of three days at So-mi’s funeral, each character must unravel the chilling truth about this enigma and prove their theories correct in order to save her.

The movie, “A Presentation by Showbox,” is jointly produced by I Film Co Ltd and Mayday Studio.

“Devils Stay” will release in Korea Nov. 14.

Despite a tough time for Korean cinema at the local box office recently, Showbox has achieved blockbuster status with Jang Jae-hyun’s movie “Exhuma,” starring Choi Min-sik, a well-known Korean actor who was previously in “Oldboy” and set a new record for Korea’s highest-grossing film, “Roaring Currents.” At the Korean box office, “Exhuma” has earned over $84 million, making it one of the most successful films of the year.

Showbox’s lineup features several exciting titles, such as the crime drama “The Verdict” by directors Lee Chang-hee and Yurson Fuadi, which stars Indonesian actors Reza Rahadian and Rio Dewanto. Additionally, there’s Kim Do-young’s untitled drama starring Koo Kyo-hwan and Mun Ka-young, as well as the mystery thriller “White Blast” by Hong Eui-jeong and Park Sun-woo, featuring Kim Yun-seok and Koo Kyo-hwan. Lastly, Choi Yun-jin’s upcoming drama titled “Big Deal” will star Yoo Hai-jin and Lee Je-hoon.
