‘Ghosts’ Star Rose McIver To Direct Season 4 Episode; Jay’s Parents Revealed in Upcoming One-Hour Christmas Special

As a devoted fan of “Ghosts”, I couldn’t be more thrilled to see Rose McIver stepping behind the camera to direct an episode! Her exceptional acting skills and deep understanding of the characters she plays make her a perfect choice for this role. It’s fascinating to witness her evolution from a brilliant actress to a capable director, adding yet another feather to her already impressive cap.

At New York Comic-Con over the weekend, it was announced that Rose McIver, star of “Ghosts,” will step into the role of director for an upcoming episode of the popular CBS comedy. This will mark her debut as a director in a television series, with filming scheduled to begin shortly and the episode set to air in 2025.

In “Ghosts,” McIver’s character Sam receives an ancient, spooky mansion as inheritance, which she and her husband Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) transform into a cozy bed and breakfast. However, this renovation isn’t well-received by the ghosts that Sam can converse with. In the upcoming one-hour Christmas special of the show, viewers will be introduced to Jay’s parents for the first time.

Actors Sakina Jaffrey and Bernard White will portray the roles of Jay’s parents, Champa and Mahesh, in a two-episode series that is set to premiere on December 19th. These episodes can be watched on Thursday. “Billions” and “The Mindy Project” are some of Sakina Jaffrey’s previous works, while “The Matrix” and “Silicon Valley” are titles associated with Bernard White in the past.

In the TV episodes titled “A Very Arondekar Christmas Part 1” and “A Very Arondekar Christmas Part 2,” as per the plot summary, a problem with a leaking water heater could potentially spoil their holiday celebrations since Sam and Jay are planning to welcome Jay’s demanding father Mahesh (Bernard White), critical mother Champa (Sakina Jaffrey), and sister Bela (Punam Patel).

I myself am a fervent admirer of the intricate dynamics within this family. As a son, Jay is fortunate to have a loving mother like Champa who adores him profoundly. However, her affection for me seems to wane when it comes to my spouse, Sam, whom she perceives as the reason for my relocation away from our family. Notably, Champa serves as the administrator of our cherished ‘Core Four’ text group. Alas, poor Sam yearns for permission to join this exclusive circle.

Regarding Jay’s father, Mahesh: “Though he privately admires Jay’s cooking abilities, Mahesh continues to wish for Jay to pursue a career in engineering over the riskier ventures like the bed & breakfast and the restaurant.

McIver along with Brandon Scott Jones (depicting Isaac), Sheila Carrasco (portraying Flower), and Román Zaragoza (bringing Sassappis to life) graced the “Ghosts” panel at NYCC, which was overseen by Tony Dokoupil, a co-host from “CBS Mornings.

For Season 4, the show titled ‘Ghosts’ returns every Thursday at 8:30 PM on CBS. In addition to its lead characters, it features Richie Moriarty, Danielle Pinnock, Asher Grodman, Rebecca Wisocky, and Devan Chandler Long.

Joe Port, Joe Wiseman, Richie Keen, Matthew Baynton, Jim Howick, Simon Farnaby, Laurence Rickard, Ben Willbond, and Martha Howe-Douglas, along with Alison Carpenter, Debra Hayward, and Alison Owen from Monumental Television, and Angie Stephenson from BBC Studios, serve as executive producers for the show. The production is a joint venture by CBS Studios, Lionsgate Television, and BBC Studios Los Angeles Productions.
