As a long-time Magic: The Gathering enthusiast and collector, I can hardly contain my excitement about these latest collaborations! The Secret Lair x Marvel’s Iron Man and Storm sets are simply breathtaking – the artwork is stunning, and the gameplay mechanics seem incredibly innovative.
As an ardent fan, I’m thrilled to share that after building anticipation with their partnership announcement towards the end of last year, Wizards Of The Coast and Marvel have finally unveiled the initial phase of Marvel’s foray into Magic: The Gathering! During a panel at New York Comic Con recently, these two titans in the gaming world disclosed five Secret Lair drops, each with a unique theme tied to a different Marvel superhero. These themed collections will be accessible on the Secret Lair website starting November 4.
Each pack contains five cards: One exclusive legendary character card showcasing one of the five highlighted characters (Captain America, Black Panther, Wolverine, Iron Man, or Storm), and four updated versions of past Magic cards that have been artistically reimagined to match the respective hero.
Each of the five drops will cost $40 (in non-foil) and $50 (rainbow-foil), and those who spend $199 or more will get a special reprint of Arcane Signet, named Earth’s Mightiest Emblem, which showcases Avengers Tower in its artwork as an extra benefit. Wizards Of The Coast has clarified that the Marvel superdrop is only available for a limited time, with predetermined amounts of each drop, and not as an on-demand print like the recent Extra Life 2024 edition.
To wrap it up, Wizards of the Coast has officially revealed that their initial major release under the partnership will focus on Marvel’s Spider-Man, with an expected debut in 2025. At the panel, no additional details about the Spider-Man collection were disclosed.
