YouTube’s Chief Executive Officer, Neal Mohan, hand-delivered the Play Button for reaching 10 million subscribers to internet sensation IShowSpeed in a gathering of content makers on October 17th.
IskeyShowSpeed is widely recognized as a popular online streamer due to his virally shared journeys overseas, extreme challenges, and jaw-dropping physical accomplishments.
In recent months, speed has experienced a significant surge in popularity. Concluding his Southeast Asian tour, he amassed more than 110 million total views, earning him the distinction as the top English-speaking live streamer globally.
Indeed, Speed amassed a following of 30 million subscribers while on his journey, with plans to explore the Middle East in the future. However, it’s only recently that he received the Play Button as recognition for his hard work and dedication.
The Diamond Play Button is presented to YouTube creators when they achieve 10 million subscribers. Once they’ve reached this milestone, they need to wait until they amass 50 million subscribers in order to receive their next recognition; the Custom Creator Award.

On that day, it wasn’t just Speed who had a chance to meet YouTube’s CEO; Mohan also got an opportunity to interact with MatPat, the renowned founder of Game Theory, who decided to step away from content creation in 2023.
Currently, neither Speed nor Mohan has made any public statement regarding their encounter; however, reactions among fans are divided. Some believe that Mohan’s action was tardy, while others view it favorably.
