Olympus-Sized Hades 2 Update Adds New Weapon, Explorable Region, And Adorable Familiars

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that Hades 2 continues to impress me with each update. The Olympic Update has taken this already exceptional game to new heights, offering an expansive new region to explore, new weapons to master, and adorable animal familiars to bond with.

With work progressing on Hades 2, Supergiant Games has introduced their initial substantial update for the roguelike adventure. This update, named Olympic Update, not only includes overall adjustments and improvements to gameplay mechanics, but also introduces a multitude of fresh content, such as an entirely new area to discover, a novel weapon to learn, additional characters to interact with, new decorative items, and most delightfully, new animal companions to connect with. Furthermore, this update offers more captivating artwork to admire and new melodies to enjoy, significantly enriching the game during its early access phase.

As a gamer, I can’t wait to delve into the unspoiled location of Hades 2 that promises to transport us to its highest realms. In this adventure, I’m eager to acquire the final Nocturnal Arm, which will undoubtedly enrich Melinoe’s arsenal. The weapon they’re keeping under wraps seems like it’ll demand lightning-fast reflexes to master. Supergiant has piqued my interest with hints that it allows players to defend and counterattack with potent moves, so I can’t wait to see what it brings!

This update brings some modifications to the weaponry section. For instance, the Witch’s Staff now has a revamped special attack. The Moonstone Axe becomes more lethal as it trades its blocking feature for a potent rising slash move instead. Moreover, the Umbral Flames will launch projectiles that rotate either left or right based on your movement direction. In summary, with all the enhancements Supergiant is implementing in this update, weapons will be significantly stronger.

As a gamer, I can’t wait to feel the enhanced speed and responsiveness of the Dash ability, making it simpler to dodge those pesky hit-stun effects from certain enemies’ attacks. Supergiant hasn’t spilled all the beans yet about their new region, but they’ve given us a sneak peek that it’s a fully fleshed-out zone with multiple locations nestled within. Other regions are also getting some love with fresh locations, and before I even step foot into Tartarus, I spot a Pool of Purging. Fishing spots should be more accessible now, and there’ve been numerous tweaks to improve the various locations.

Despite being in its early stages, Hades 2 appears promising as it already seems fully-fledged, showcasing a harmonious blend of innovative ideas from previous versions that make it one of the best roguelites on the market thus far, according to Alessandro Barbosa’s review-in-progress for TopMob published in May 2024.

At the moment, you can grab Hades 2 for $30 from both Steam and the Epic Games Store. However, it’s been noted by Supergiant that the price might go up once the game is fully released.
