Maxwell the cat becomes TikTok’s biggest star with incredible POV videos

As a seasoned social media observer with decades of scrolling under my belt, I must say I’ve seen it all – from dancing cats to cooking grandmas, but nothing quite compares to the street-roaming saga of Maxwell the cat! This feline dynamo has taken TikTok by storm, leaving pawprints on hearts and screens alike.

A cat named Maxwell has become popular on TikTok due to point-of-view (POV) clips showing him scampering through his local area.

Ever since its debut in 2016, TikTok has emerged as a bustling hub for countless content creators, video clips, and fads that have swept across social networks like wildfire.

Most recently, Maxwell the cat, better known by his handle max20499, has become well-known due to the numerous point-of-view (POV) videos his owner posted on TikTok, which quickly gained popularity.

In April 2024, the initial video was posted. This video depicts Maxwell hastily traversing the city’s streets, giving the impression that he’s sprinting at top speed.

That video has over 14M views as of writing, but that’s just a drop in the bucket compared to the second clip uploaded to his account.

I can’t help but share my excitement about the viral video featuring Maxwell, where he’s seen in hot pursuit of another feline, resulting in a playful tussle! This clip has garnered an astounding 120 million views so far. Although it doesn’t quite reach the top 10 most-watched videos on the platform, it still leaves me awestruck!

It turns out that the video of Maxwell chasing cats, which you saw, wasn’t the final one. On October 7th, there was another clip where Maxwell pursued yet another cat and even got into a brief scuffle with it.

Fans flocked to the comments to share their thoughts on the viral street-roaming kitten.

“Once he got the stamina whole block is done,” one user commented.

Another said: “A day without beef is a day wasted.”

A third responded, saying, ‘He’s not interested in fighting at all, but rather, instilling fear in the hearts of cats.’

It’s unclear who specifically manages the TikTok account that boasts more than 2 million followers and countless millions of views, with each video exploding in popularity.

As a gamer, I’m not the only one who’s blown up on social media in October. The French TikToker known as Tatatopsecret has racked up millions of views by giving it a go at completing those filters where she tries to say American foods correctly.
