Wallace And Gromit Come Take On Robotic Gnomes In New Trailer

As a seasoned gamer and animation enthusiast who has grown up with the delightful duo of Wallace and Gromit, the news of their latest adventure, Vengeance Most Fowl, has filled me with an uncontainable joy that could only be rivaled by the sight of a freshly baked cheese roll. The return of our beloved characters after such a long hiatus is like finding a precious truffle in the depths of a dense forest – it’s rare, but oh-so-worth-it!

Once more, the quirky inventor Wallace and his loyal dog Gromit are embarking on another thrilling stop-motion escapade! The latest installment, titled “Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl,” marks their sixth film, following a gap of 14 years since the release of “A Matter of Loaf and Death” in 2008. This new adventure is their second full-length feature, after the Academy Award-winning “The Curse of the Were-Rabbit” in 2005. The announcement for “Vengeance Most Fowl” was made in 2022, and now we have our first official trailer!

The movie synopsis reveals that Gromit’s worry about Wallace relying excessively on his inventions becomes true when Wallace creates a ‘smart gnome’, which appears to have a wicked consciousness of its own. As it turns out, someone from the past might be manipulating events, and it is up to Gromit to confront malicious forces and rescue Wallace, or else he may never be able to invent again. Catch up with this dynamic duo as they encounter their old foe once more, engaging in a fresh round of antics.

For the first time, Ben Whitehead will take over as the voice of Wallace in a full-length production, filling the void left by the passing of original actor Peter Sallis in 2017. Previously, Whitehead had stood in for Sallis in certain scenes in A Matter of Loaf and Death. However, since 2008, he has also assumed the role for video games and commercials.

In a new twist, the talented performer Reece Shearwood, known for his roles as an actor and magician (hailing from Saltburn, recently seen in Venom: Let There Be Carnage), will lend his voice to Norbot, a robotic gnome, who is set to present Wallace and Gromit with their toughest test yet.

The film’s unveiling occurs concurrently with the disclosure that Aardman Animations, a company owned by its employees, has recently undergone layoffs affecting approximately 20 of their around 130 full-time workers. According to Cartoon Brew, this represents about 15% of their core staff, primarily management positions. Notably, most of Aardman’s artists are freelancers hired on a project-by-project basis rather than permanent employees.

The animated film “Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl” is set to premiere globally on the last day of AFI Fest in December 24, 2024, exclusively on Netflix, except for the UK where it will make its debut earlier on BBC before being available on Netflix in 2025.
