Can you change appearance in New World: Aeternum?

As a seasoned gamer with decades of MMO adventures under my belt, I can’t help but appreciate the intricacies of character customization in New World: Aeternum. The initial character creation process is nothing short of impressive, offering a plethora of options to tailor our digital avatars to our heart’s content.

In any MMO game, your character’s appearance is a big part of general play, appearing in critical story moments as your representative in-game. That said, you might not stay happy with your chosen aesthetic, and changing it is a service that some, including World of Warcraft, now offer.

Amazon Game Studio’s MMO title, previously known as New World, underwent a soft relaunch and rebranding as New World: Aeternum. As part of this overhaul, the development team has introduced numerous modifications to the game’s features and gameplay mechanics.

In the beginning of New World: Aeternum, players are offered an extensive character customization tool with numerous choices before they dive into the game. To make things even more engaging, Aeternum has included extra options. Furthermore, players can opt for specific Archetypes that not only determine their initial equipment but also influence their overall strategy in the game.

What happens after that? Here’s everything you need to know.

Character appearance in New World explained

Can you change appearance in New World: Aeternum?

Currently, once you’ve debuted your character for the initial time, I’m afraid we don’t offer an option to alter its appearance. Similarly, the name you select becomes permanent, so do take care to choose a name that suits you long-term.

Through the game’s transformation system, you can’t modify the characters themselves, but you can indeed change their exterior appearance. Not all armor items in the game are affected, but for those at higher levels, you can switch up their look by navigating to the inventory menu and selecting “change appearance” or something similar.

This will help you create logical groups of items that complement each other nicely, but while leveling up, we wouldn’t prioritize this process since you’ll soon acquire superior gear. It’s not beneficial to focus on arranging your appearance until you’re nearing the final stages of the game.

Aeternum” can be played on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S/X using the same platform as the original game, which was released recently. If you bought the original game within the past few years, you can access “New World: Aeternum” through this same launcher.
