Dead by Daylight Wants Fans' Opinions On Possible Trickster Overhaul

As a seasoned Dead by Daylight player with hundreds of hours under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of deja vu when it comes to The Trickster. It seems like we’re back to the drawing board yet again, tweaking and adjusting this enigmatic killer.

It’s possible that the character Trickster in Dead by Daylight could see significant changes around early next year, as developers are contemplating rolling back some recent updates. These changes might include adjusting his movement speed, Terror Radius, Laceration Meter, and the time between throws, among other aspects. The revisions would significantly increase his Main Event requirement to 30 knives (previously 8), but would compensate for this by speeding up his throw rate to 1.667 (was previously 1.33).

In the developer’s updates, they mentioned that the past modifications made to The Trickster were met with disagreement among players who preferred the original version. They are considering going back to the majority of those adjustments, but still keeping enhancements like reducing recoil.

The changes would also extend the cooldown time for the killer’s attacks by 2 seconds, undo the modifications related to Fizz-Spin Soda and Ji-Woon’s Autograph, and instead apply the effect of Fizz-Spin Soda to the Memento Blade add-on. In simpler terms, the updates will make it take longer for the killer to attack again, reverse the effects of Fizz-Spin Soda and Ji-Woon’s Autograph, and assign the impact of Fizz-Spin Soda to the Memento Blade instead.

Since I debuted back in March 2021, I’ve seen quite the transformation, mate! Initially, folks considered me a low-tier slasher due to my slower pace. But fear not, the devs heard the cry and beefed me up! They fine-tuned my Main Event power for better efficiency and even sped up my grab speed just a tad. Now, I’m ready to cause chaos on the gaming scene once more!

The developers announced a possible upgrade in a Design Preview post on Reddit, allowing fans to offer their input well ahead of its implementation, even before it reaches the Public Test Build (PTB). They emphasized that this is a trial run, hinting that similar Design Preview posts could appear in the future.

The developers mentioned that these alterations might not end up being included in the game and could potentially undergo modifications or even be abandoned altogether. They kindly request you to adjust your expectations accordingly, as implementation may take some time if we proceed with these changes.
