Asmongold banned on Twitch after “racist” comments

As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I’ve witnessed numerous controversies involving streamers and their actions. However, the recent Twitch ban on Asmongold, following his inflammatory comments about Palestine, has left me rather perplexed.

Twitch has suspended Asmongold’s account following his remarks about Palestine. In these statements, he expressed a lack of empathy towards the populace and referred to them as “unsympathetic” individuals.

The comments took place on his October 14 Twitch stream on his alternative account, zackrawrr.

In the course of his speech, he asserted that the population was part of a “culture considered inferior” and one that fundamentally contradicts all that Western values represent.

He stated, “I don’t have sympathy for them, nor do I pity them. I don’t care about their cause.

Viewers and fellow streamers swiftly criticized Asmongold, calling for his suspension from Twitch, as numerous individuals expressed their disapproval.

“This is just straight racism … Do something,” said brookeab, tagging Twitch in her post.

Kaceytron highlighted what she perceived as breaches of Twitch’s Terms of Service allegedly made by Asmongold.

This encompasses incitement or encouragement of violence towards a safeguarded group, material implying that members of the protected group are less than human, inhumane, or unclean, as well as theories claiming that specific individuals or groups are inherently evil, and so forth.

Later on, Asmongold expressed his apologies, stating that “absolutely, nobody’s life should be ruined, regardless of actions or beliefs I might find backward.

Reflecting on it now, I was far too harsh about the Palestine issue.

On October 15, the account ‘zackrawrr’, an alternate account of Asmongold, was banned. Interestingly, his primary account has not been affected by this ban, although he hasn’t streamed on it for more than a year now.

Additionally, if he decides to broadcast using that account, it could result in a suspension for ban evasion, as per Twitch’s terms of service. Whether or not Twitch will also impose a ban on that account is yet to be determined.

At the moment, it’s uncertain if this ban is long-term or temporary, and Asmongold hasn’t provided any feedback on the matter. In case the ban turns out to be permanent, there’s a possibility that he might switch to another streaming platform, just like other streamers such as Adin Ross who were banned from Twitch and moved to different platforms.
