As a long-time fan of TV shows that delve deep into the human psyche and challenge our perceptions, I am thrilled to see the lineup for ATX TV Festival 2025. The reunions of “The Leftovers” and “UnREAL” are particularly exciting, as these shows have left a profound impact on me. I can still recall the emotional turmoil of each episode, and the thought of revisiting these worlds is exhilarating.
The ATX TV Festival has unveiled initial plans for its 2025 edition, happening in Austin between May 29th and June 1st. Highlights include cast reunions for “The Leftovers” and “UnREAL”, as well as a behind-the-scenes look at the creative universe of Bill Lawrence.
It was revealed on Monday that “The Leftovers” cast will come together again during Season 14, with co-creators Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta, director Mimi Leder, and key actors including Justin Theroux, Carrie Coon, Amy Brenneman, Christopher Eccleston, Ann Dowd, and Kevin Carroll. Sarah Aubrey, Head of Max Original Programming, will be presiding over the event.
A+E Studios is set to showcase a reflection on the acclaimed series “UnREAL” from Lifetime, inviting co-creator Sarah Gertrude Shapiro and stars Shiri Appleby, Constance Zimmer, Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman, and Craig Bierko.
This year’s festival will feature Bill Lawrence reprising his role for “Bill Lawrence & Friends,” a panel where he will be joined by colleagues from various collaborations on shows like “Bad Monkey,” “Shrinking,” “Ted Lasso,” “Scrubs,” “Cougar Town” and others.
Mike Flanagan (“The Haunting of Hill House”) is set to appear at the festival along with a star-studded cast for a live performance reading of an unreleased screenplay.
For the very first time, Sherry Thomas (“Breaking Bad”), Jeanie Bacharach (“The Bear”), Bonnie Zane (“Suits”) and Felicia Fasano (“Better Things”) are set to join a discussion titled “Spotlight on Casting: Underrated Actors” in an upcoming event.
Plus, Henry Winkler will host for a live acting class and take part in a Q&A.
As a passionate supporter, I’m thrilled to help spread the news that Caitlin McFarland and Emily Gipson, the visionary co-founders, can’t wait to unveil their programming offerings at our event as soon as possible. Whether you’re a tech industry insider or just a fan like me, there will be something for everyone!
In a statement, they expressed that our dedicated team put tremendous effort into making the festival reflect our identity – bringing back old connections, looking back at past achievements, exploring craft and industry debates, and having beloved personalities from TV discuss their current and future projects. Furthermore, acknowledging that we mirror the challenges faced by the television industry, such as strikes, mergers, acquisitions, and contractions, they also shared that they too have experienced these hardships over the past few years. Despite the ongoing complexities, they are optimistic about the future and stand with their creative allies to collaboratively produce engaging narratives through meaningful discussions.
Moreover, it’s time to submit entries for our yearly Pitch Contest! The standard submission period ends on January 10th, with the announcement of finalists scheduled for April 14th. If you’re interested, festival passes and badges can be purchased right here.
