As a seasoned movie critic with a penchant for espionage thrillers, I must say that the renewal of “Slow Horses” for a sixth season is music to my ears! Having delved into the world of covert operations and international intrigue through countless films, this series truly stands out as a breath of fresh air.
Fans of the series “Slough House” on Apple TV+ have something to look forward to, as it’s been officially announced that the show will return for a sixth season!
The series is adapted from Mick Herron’s popular novels and features Gary Oldman portraying the stubborn and untidy Jackson Lamb, who heads a team of MI5 misfits, affectionately known as “slow horses.” This group includes River Cartwright (played by Jack Lowden), Roddy Ho (Christopher Chung), Louisa Guy (Rosalind Eleazar), and Catherine Standish (Saskia Reeves).
Kristin Scott Thomas is featured among the cast, taking on the role of MI5’s deputy head, Diana Taverner, along with Jonathan Pryce, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Ruth Bradley, Tom Brooke, and Samuel West.
Previous seasons featured the presence of actors like Hugo Weaving, Joanna Scanlan, Sope Dirisu, and Olivia Cooke.
In Season 4, which concluded recently, we witnessed Cartwright receiving some extremely private information following his escape from a renegade CIA agent (portrayed by Weaving), all while a cherished colleague from the Slough House squad met an untimely demise.
In Season 6, comprising six more episodes, our unlikely heroes are forced to flee due to their involvement in a dangerous game of retribution and vengeance orchestrated by their former friend-turned-foe, Taverner.
Gaby Chiappe, a co-executive producer, will handle the adaptation for Season 6. Meanwhile, Adam Randall, who directed Season 4, is coming back to lead Season 6.
