‘Culinary Class Wars’ Renewed for Second Season at Netflix

As someone who has spent countless hours engrossed in culinary shows from around the globe, I can confidently say that “Culinary Class Wars” is a breath of fresh air. Having followed the rise and fall of many contestants in various cooking competitions, I must admit that this Korean reality show has managed to keep me on the edge of my seat with its unique blend of passion, grandeur, and unpredictability.

The popular South Korean cooking reality series, “Culinary Class Wars,” has been given the green light for another round by Netflix.

This competition brings together 100 celebrated chefs along with hidden culinary stars to face off in a grand gastronomic tournament. Spanning over 12 episodes and on a massive scale, the contest occasionally feels like a sporting event. The show is evaluated by the esteemed restaurateur Paik Jong-won and chef Anh Sung-jae from Mosu Seoul, the nation’s sole Michelin three-star restaurant.

The producers Kim Hak-min and Kim Eun-ji, together with writer Mo Eun-sol from Studio Slam, are set to come back for another season.

Just a month since its debut, the show has swiftly become a global sensation, garnering massive popularity not just in Korea but worldwide. It marked a historic milestone as the first Korean reality series to top Netflix’s Global Top 10 TV (Non-English) chart for three consecutive weeks.

The intense competition among dedicated chefs, along with the show’s massive scope and unexpected surprises, provided a thrilling spectacle, according to the broadcaster. For season 2, they hinted at intensifying the culinary contest even further,” said the streaming service. “Season 2 will see the competition reach new heights of intensity.

It takes a tremendous amount of work to create productions of this magnitude, but we’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved with our hardworking team. Moving forward, we’re excited to grow our selection of unscripted content,” said Yoo Ki Hwan, the director of content at Netflix Korea.

Starting from August 2022 and continuing until the first quarter of 2025, Netflix Korea plans to launch a fresh, unscripted Korean series each month, with the aim of expanding their collection of popular Korean content.

Previously, the company tasted victory with Korean reality series like “Single’s Inferno,” now set for a fourth run, and “Physical 100,” slated for a second round as well.

In the realm of scripted television, Netflix has set November 8th as the release date for the romantic comedy series “Mr. Plankton.” This show stars Woo Do-hwan and Lee You-mi, with the former playing a man who was born as an accident, and the latter portraying the woman with the worst luck in the world, who unwittingly embarks on the final voyage of this man’s life.
