The current show titled “LEONARDO da VINCI” has been bought by television networks globally, such as the BBC in the United Kingdom, Germany’s ZDF Arte and Sky New Zealand.

The show will provide a thorough exploration of Leonardo da Vinci’s impact across art, science, and technology, set amidst the vibrant landscape of Renaissance Italy – a period marked by doubt, intellectual freedom, regional conflicts, and religious turmoil. By delving into his notebooks, personal and secondary accounts of his life, and featuring discussions with contemporary scholars, artists, engineers, inventors, and fans, the series aims to vividly portray Da Vinci’s accomplishments on screen.

Joe Barrett, vice president of worldwide sales at PBS Distribution, expressed, “Leonardo da Vinci was a visionary for the ages. His endless curiosity and unlimited imagination still captivate us now. We’re excited to share this thought-provoking documentary series at Mipcom this year.

Peter Allenbacher from ZDF expressed that the mix of subject matter, director, and station was nearly impossible to resist for him. This appeal wasn’t just professional but also personal, given his deep passion for art, particularly painting. The program ‘LEONARDO da VINCI’ was acquired by the prominent German broadcaster ZDF for airing during Arte’s holiday programming, when viewers have more time to relax and appreciate Ken Burns’ latest production at their own pace.

On October 22nd, PBS Distribution is set to host a viewing event at Le Palais des Festivals during Mipcom. The audience will have an opportunity to preview episodes from the series and engage in a question-and-answer session with the show’s creators.
