Max Confirmed to Launch in Seven Asian Territories in November

As a seasoned movie enthusiast who’s traveled the globe in search of the perfect popcorn and reclining seat, I must say I’m thrilled about Warner Bros. Discovery’s upcoming streaming service Max. Having traversed the seven seas from Hollywood to Bollywood, I can attest that this platform promises a cinematic journey like no other.

Warner Bros. Discovery is set to debut its streaming platform, Max, in seven Southeast Asian countries within the coming month.

Starting from November 19th, the service will also be accessible in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

As a film enthusiast, I’m excited to share that Max is preparing to present a range of plans tailored for diverse preferences. The specific pricing details will be unveiled in the upcoming weeks, with variations based on country and service provider. Notably, mobile-only options will be accessible in Indonesia and the Philippines, while select providers in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, and Thailand will offer them as well.

Currently, WBD runs a temporary HBO Go streaming service in certain regions of East Asia. However, Max offers not only an advanced technology base but also a broader range of content.

WBD unveils Max, now available across North America and various international locations, as “a fresh, captivating streaming service [..] delivering blockbuster films, innovative series, classic favorites, compelling real-life content, and family favorites through a top-notch user experience.” The service made its Asian debut towards the end of September, appearing as a dedicated environment, complete with its own user interface, within the Japanese streaming platform U-Next.

Max, users are allowed to establish up to five distinct, individually tailored accounts. These profiles will offer personalized recommendations based on viewing patterns, and there’s even an option for kid-friendly profiles, filled with age-suitable content and equipped with parental control settings.

On this platform, you’ll find a variety of entertainment brands such as HBO, Cartoon Network, Original Max Productions, Discovery, TLC, AFN, Food Network, ID, and HGTV. Their content libraries encompass popular franchises like “Harry Potter” and the DC Universe.

Expanding on our successful rollouts in the U.S., Latin America, and Europe, Asia Pacific marks the next step in Max’s worldwide expansion,” stated JB Perrette, CEO and president of global streaming & games at WBD. This move brings Max to over 72 markets currently, with plans for additional launches in 2025.

For the very first time, content from iconic brands of Warner Bros. Discovery will be accessible to audiences throughout Asia Pacific via a fresh streaming app designed specifically for regional viewers. According to James Gibbons, president of Warner Bros. Discovery in APAC, this platform offers an extensive collection, exceptional quality, and a superior viewing experience.
