Resident Evil 9 Announcement Could Be Coming Soon, New Ratings Page Suggests

As a veteran gamer with over two decades of gaming experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and impatience about the potential upcoming release of Resident Evil 9. The sudden appearance of a Metacritic page for the game has me on the edge of my seat.

It appears that there may be hints of an earlier-than-anticipated release for Resident Evil 9, as a new webpage for the game has mysteriously appeared on Metacritic. Although Capcom officially announced Resident Evil 9 during their July Capcom Next showcase, no specific details about the game were revealed at that time – not even character names or plot details. However, this cryptic development might suggest that more information about RE9 could be unveiled very soon.

It seems that Resident Evil 9 might be officially announced soon, as a new page for it has appeared on Metacritic. Precedent suggests that this could indicate an upcoming reveal. Will The Game Awards be the venue? Stay tuned!

Horror Game Central on X/Twitter notes that it isn’t unusual for Resident Evil announcements to leak in this manner. In fact, similar events occurred back in December 2023 when fans stumbled upon a Metacritic page for the Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition. Just under two months later, on February 1, 2024, Capcom confirmed the game’s existence. Given this pattern, it’s plausible that the Metacritic page for RE9 could serve as a sneak peek into what we might expect in the near future.

Even though the new Metacritic page for Resident Evil 9 primarily offers sparse information, enthusiasts have already managed to gather some details. The “Platforms” section indicates that the game will be playable on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, but there’s no PC mention at this time. It’s plausible that a PC release won’t occur, though it seems more probable that the platform information hasn’t been disclosed fully yet.

According to Horror Game Central, there’s speculation that an announcement for the upcoming Resident Evil 9 might be made at The Game Awards in December, keeping enthusiasts on tenterhooks for about two months. However, nothing has been officially verified as of now, except Capcom’s disclosure in July that the game is indeed being developed. So, fans will need to exercise patience a bit longer for an official word from Capcom regarding the recent Resident Evil 9 leaks.
