As a longtime gamer with a soft spot for college football video games, I can’t help but admire Diego Pavia’s audacity and charm. The guy’s not just making waves on the field, but also in the digital realm, asking EA Sports for an upgrade in his game rating and some “drip.” It’s a refreshing blend of reality and virtuality that I find quite appealing.
In a bid to further enhance his impact in potential NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) deals following recent achievements, Vanderbilt football’s Diego Pavia has now turned his attention to EA Sports, creators of the latest college football video game. Having garnered accolades from renowned college football player Johnny Manziel, he is now seeking a higher rating (currently 79 overall) and additional features (referred to as “drip”) for his character in the game, as indicated on his X (previously Twitter) account.

Can I get an updated rating and drip— Diego Pavia (@diegopavia02) October 14, 2024
Without a shadow of a doubt, Pavia and the Commodores have been garnering increased attention for their program following Vanderbilt football’s stunning victory over the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide. They continued their winning streak last Saturday by defeating the Kentucky Wildcats in another surprising result, as Vanderbilt was considered a 14-point underdog in this game.
In the game, Pavia passed for a total of 143 yards, scoring two touchdowns and making one interception. He shared with the SEC Network about the determination and tenacity of his team, as they achieved consecutive weeks of significant victories, as reported by On3 Sports.
Let me share a thought with you. Truth be told, Vanderbilt’s team has turned into a powerhouse now. You definitely shouldn’t overlook them. Coach Lea’s been aiming for this success ever since he joined us. It just took that small adjustment to click. I believe you’ve witnessed the determination of these players. They yearn for victory above all else, and they despise losing. However, a big shout-out goes to our defense! That’s what Pavia said.
With just 20 points, we managed to secure a victory tonight. That’s a massive achievement. Our defense was outstanding, and our offensive line allowed us to run the ball effectively. Honestly, I didn’t contribute much this game compared to some of the others.” (Pavia)

Coach Pavia would emphasize that simply because they had just defeated the Crimson Tide the previous week, it doesn’t mean they would lose focus on their winning formula following such a high. Yet, he would add that the strategic game plan of Commodores coach Clark Lea wouldn’t allow for that, and also acknowledge the impact of the offensive line in this context.
Pavia stated, “That’s not our style. That’s not our style. Coach Lea has a carefully planned game plan for us, and Coach Kill can be tough on us. As for the offensive line, Coach K [Klenakis] is always vigilant to ensure they don’t falter. They are always among the first on the field, even before others. When I join them, I find that the offensive line has already taken their positions. So, a big shoutout to them for leading the way.
According to On3 Sports, it was reported that Pavia sustained a knee injury, and the coaches were talking about his resilience due to this issue.
Clark Lea commented, ‘I believe this guy can still play, but it might not be easy. He’s tough, though I’m unsure about the exact injury. His knee was hurt. They wanted to examine it thoroughly. He seems fine. He’ll get injured at times. This is a challenging period. Still, he’s a joy to have on our team because he fights tirelessly every game. He embodies our program’s competitive spirit, and he will be alright.’
The Commodores currently stand at a record of 4-2 overall, with a conference tally of 2-1. They aim for their third consecutive victory when they face off against the Ball State Cardinals on the following Saturday.
