Resident Evil 9 Got Its Card on Metacritic but Half-Life 3 Has Had One for Years

As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that the appearance of Resident Evil 9 on Metacritic has certainly piqued my interest. While it might just be a mere coincidence, as Half-Life 3’s page has been there for ages without any substantial news, I can’t help but feel a glimmer of hope. After all, the Resident Evil 4 Remake: Gold Edition appeared on Metacritic two months before its official announcement, so fingers crossed!

More than three years have passed since the release of the last Resident Evil series installment, and it wasn’t a remake. We only know that the ninth one is being developed, which was confirmed during Capcom Next in July. Interestingly, the game title has recently shown up on Metacritic, suggesting the announcement might be imminent.

In theory, since the webpage for Half-Life 3 has been there for quite some time, it doesn’t necessarily signify anything new just yet. To remind you, the game itself was never released as planned, despite persistent rumors suggesting otherwise.

It’s worth mentioning that the Resident Evil 4 Remake: Gold Edition has been spotted on Metacritic about two months prior to the official announcement, suggesting a possible reveal of new details for this legendary survival horror game series. However, it’s important to note that these are merely speculations, and the presence of the game page on the website doesn’t necessarily indicate an upcoming announcement.

It’s worth noting that there have been whispers suggesting that the release date for Resident Evil 9 has been pushed back to late 2025 or possibly even 2026. The game is rumored to be set in an open world and will reportedly have the largest budget ever for a series installment. Moreover, the eighth installment’s expansion, titled Shadows of Rose, wrapped up the story of the Winters family. Therefore, it’s likely that the new game will present us with fresh characters or revisit some familiar faces from the past.

Beyond what we’ve already talked about regarding RE9, there are rumors swirling about updated editions for Resident Evil 0 and Code: Veronica as well. Yet, it’s important to note that these reports have not been verified by the developers themselves.
