As a long-time One Piece enthusiast who’s been sailing the Grand Line since its debut, I must admit that the upcoming hiatus is a bittersweet piece of news. The anime has been an integral part of my weekly routine, and the thought of going without Luffy and his crew for over two years feels like a long voyage without a compass.
The popular anime series “One Piece” will take a break until April 2025, with the current arc, Egghead Island, resuming on March 30, 2025. As announced by Toei Animation, this pause is to enhance the quality of the ongoing storyline. Typically airing every Sunday, fans of “One Piece” may feel a sense of disappointment due to this break. However, it’s worth noting that the hiatus is being taken for a positive reason, and Toei has something exciting in store for us when the show returns.
One Piece anime hiatus
As a devoted fan, I’m excitedly sharing that during the One Piece News #1 live-stream event, Toei Animation revealed some intriguing news: the Egghead Island Arc won’t resume until April 2025. Understanding the need for their talented animators to take a well-deserved break after consistently delivering high-quality animation week after week, this hiatus might just set the stage for even more breathtaking battles on par with the legendary Aokiji vs. Garp clash (you can catch a glimpse of that epic fight in the clip below).
In the upcoming episode set for broadcast on Sunday, it’s titled “One Piece: A Special Tribute to Fans“. This special occasion marks the anime’s 25th anniversary, featuring fresh glimpses of the Straw Hat pirate crew.
New One Piece anime “remaster”
Following the “One Piece Fan Letter Special,” Toei is set to unveil a revamped version of the Fish-Man Island Arc. This “refreshed” edition will boast improved graphics, fresh filters, and compressed episodes for a more streamlined viewing experience. Over the coming months, you can look forward to 25 episodes airing of this remastered arc. To help jog your memory, the Fish-Man Arc unfolds right after the two-year time skip, during which the Straw Hat crew honed their skills and abilities. This arc highlighted the fruits of their training, and now we’ll get to revisit it with enhanced visuals.
What about the manga?
Currently, the “One Piece” manga is not taking a break, but instead, it’s being published weekly with occasional brief pauses. The Elbaf Island storyline has just commenced, and creator Eiichiro Oda is setting up the plot foundation. This signifies that we are still at the initial stages of this arc, and considering that some of the longest arcs in the series, like the Wano Country Arc, ran for as many as 149 chapters, there’s much more to look forward to.
