Dandelooo Sells ‘Hola Frida!’ Animated Feature in Mexico, Spain, Greece (EXCLUSIVE)

As a lifelong admirer of Frida Kahlo and her extraordinary spirit, I am absolutely thrilled about the upcoming release of “Hola Frida!”. Being a connoisseur of animated films, I have eagerly been following this project since its inception, and to see it finally come to life is truly an emotional experience for me.

The award-winning French animation company Dandelooo has secured distribution deals for the animated movie “Hola Frida!” in Mexico, Spain, and Greece. This film was introduced as part of their lineup when they launched their feature animation division at the start of 2024.

Last June, Dandelooo provided a sneak peek of footage and music from “Hola Frida!” to audiences at Annecy. However, the official premiere is fast approaching, as the film will soon be joining the esteemed ranks of animated features that world-premiered at Mexico’s Morelia International Film Festival. The screening for “Hola Frida!” will take place on October 25th, both at Morelia’s Cineteca Nacional and at Frida Kahlo’s Casa Azul museum.

Following its premiere at Morelia, the movie is set to hit French cinemas on February 12, handled by Haut et Court Distribution. In March, Pack Màgic will bring the film to Spain. The movie will also make its way to Canadian theaters in spring through Maison 4:3, and it’s scheduled for Rosebud21 screens in Greece, though the exact dates are yet to be announced.

Hola Frida!” presents an imaginative account of young Frida Kahlo’s exciting escapades, set in the heart of Coyoacán, Mexico City. Intrigued by the wonders that surrounded her, this real-life artist-to-be triumphs over hardships through her vivid creativity.

Titled “Hola Frida!”, this family-friendly movie is primarily designed for children aged six and above, along with their families. The screenplay was crafted by Sophie Faucher, Anne Bryan, and André Kadi, while production was handled jointly by Haut et Court in France, Robo Media, and Du Coup Studio Production in Canada.

Luna Sirvin, Dandelooo’s International Sales & Acquisitions Manager, expressed her pride in being chosen by the Morelia International Film Festival and presenting ‘Hola Frida!’ at Cineteca Nacional and la Casa Azul. She noted that the film’s debut was perfectly suited to Mexico, Frida’s homeland, as a heartfelt homage to this remarkable artist. This marks the beginning of ‘Hola Frida!’s worldwide adventure.
