Arc Games and Snapshot Games have announced the first update for the early access version of the dark fantasy RPG, Frosthaven, will be available on October 23rd. The update, called ‘Awakening Protocol,’ introduces a new storyline called ‘Unfettered,’ three new playable characters, and additional quests and bosses – all free for players.

Arc Games has shared plans for the early development of Frosthaven. They anticipate releasing updates in January, April, and July of 2026.
Frosthaven is now available in early access for PC (Steam, Epic).
Okay, so awesome news for anyone playing the digital version of Frosthaven! I just heard that a huge update, called Awakening Protocol, is dropping on October 23rd, and it’s totally free. It’s been made with Isaac Childres, who actually created the board game, so you know it’s gonna be good. They’re adding a whole new story arc, three heroes everyone’s been waiting for, and some cool new stuff like a challenge system. Basically, it’s a massive content drop to make the game even better – I can’t wait to jump in!
Frosthaven’s new storyline, Awakening Protocol, comes from Snapshot Games, led by the original creator of X-COM, Julian Gollop, and features consulting from board game designer Isaac Childres (of Cephalofair Games). Players will delve into the ruins of an ancient civilization’s massive facility. Long abandoned and decaying, this place is now overrun by the Unfettered – a vengeful force led by a mysterious figure with a dangerous plan. The future of Frosthaven depends on the decisions you make within Awakening Protocol.
