New York Film Festival Title ‘7 Walks With Mark Brown’ Finds U.S. Distribution With Several Futures (EXCLUSIVE)

As an ardent cinephile and admirer of the artistry that graces our screens, I find myself utterly captivated by the work of Pierre Creton. His latest masterpiece, “7 Walks With Mark Brown,” is yet another testament to his unparalleled talent for storytelling and eye for the extraordinary.

As a seasoned film critic, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve recently learned about the acquisition of “7 Walks With Mark Brown” by the New York-based distributor Several Futures. This captivating film, masterfully directed by Pierre Creton and Vincent Barré, made its grand U.S. debut at the prestigious New York Film Festival.

The film, titled “Documentary,” traces the steps of paleobotanist Mark Brown as he uncovers the unique plant life in Normandy.

Creton gained significant recognition for his directorial work on the movie “A Prince,” which debuted at the Cannes Film Festival last year and hit U.S. screens in 2024. The film initially premiered at FIDMarseilles, where it was awarded the Centre National Des Arts Plastiques Prize.

Creton and Barré expressed their excitement about the impending U.S. launch of ‘7 Walks with Mark Brown,’ as well as the prospect of sharing some of our past lengthy and brief movies,” is a more natural and easily readable paraphrase.

Meanwhile, Graham Carter, one of the founders of Several Futures, expressed that he’s particularly fond of Creton’s handcrafted films, considering them a remarkable find in recent years. It’s a privilege for him to bring such exceptional work to the U.S. His latest collaboration with Barré embodies the essence of their artistic practice and aligns perfectly with Several Futures’ core values.

Carter worked out the deal with producer Arnaud Dommerc (known for “Félicité,” “The Competition”) from Andolfi. The cinematography for the film was handled by Creton for digital shots, while 16mm shots were taken by Antoine Pirotte and Sophie Rogers. Creton and Barré were in charge of editing the movie. Previous projects from Several Futures include “Petite Solange” by Axelle Ropert and “Coconut Head Generation” by Alain Kassanda. Alongside “7 Walks With Mark Brown,” the distribution label also picked up Creton’s previous films “A Beautiful Summer” and “Va, Toto!” for a Summer 2025 retrospective of the filmmaker’s work.
