As a seasoned gamer and content creator myself, I find myself deeply troubled by the recent turn of events involving Yung Filly. I have always admired the creative freedom and camaraderie that exists within our community, so news like this hits hard.
British YouTube personality and hip-hop artist Yung Filly is facing charges for sexual assault while on tour in Australia, leading to a range of responses among his peers in the English content creation community.
29-year-old social media personality Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, known as Yung Filly, is currently out on bail. This follows a report made to the police in Perth by a young woman alleging that she was sexually assaulted in his hotel room after his performance at Bar1 nightclub on September 27.
Barrientos was transported to Western Australia for legal proceedings, staying there as he prepares for trial on charges including four instances of non-consensual sexual activity, three incidents of physical assault causing injury, and one offense related to obstructing someone’s ability to breathe or circulate normally.
This content creator, known as Filly, has a significant following of more than 1.8 million subscribers on YouTube alone. It’s also reported that he makes approximately $700,000 from his YouTube channel and TikTok account. However, recent events have left fans and fellow creators confused and upset.
As a gamer myself, I’ve been following the recent developments closely. Initially, other gaming influencers shared a variety of reactions when the news first surfaced. One notable FIFA/EA FC streamer, ‘Pieface’, has chosen to remain neutral, adopting an ‘innocent until proven guilty’ approach towards Filly.
He advised, ‘Not all you read should be taken at face value.’ He explained that, unlike many others, he’s cautious about accusing someone he knows without having all the facts.

Similarly, fellow creative from Britain, Aaron Hunt, believes that the allegations against Filly are unproven until stronger evidence emerges to support them.
Instead of immediately closing the door on your friend due to an allegation, wouldn’t it be better to hold off until we have more information?” he suggested. “It seems wiser to wait for the facts first, rather than jumping to conclusions and gathering a mob.
Streamer ‘AngryGinge’ took a more impartial approach to the topic, stating that he “can’t discuss ongoing court cases” yet confessing that he was “surprised and disturbed” by the recent developments.
He explained that he doesn’t have any additional information. He wants to clarify that this doesn’t mean he knows everything, and emphasized that the situation is as it appears – we simply need to be patient and await the final decision.
On YouTube, AngryGinge jointly hosts a show titled ‘Girth and Turf’ alongside Filly, and currently, there is some uncertainty about the series’ continuation.

Some spectators have pointed out that UK YouTube collective The Sidemen made a video with Yung Filly private, but their other collaborative videos featuring this influencer are still accessible.
