Twitch creates new mental health resources & streamers think it’s “incredible”

As a long-time Twitch enthusiast who’s seen both the highs and lows of the streaming community, I can’t help but feel a sense of relief and gratitude towards this platform that has become such an integral part of my life. The announcement of their confidential mental health resources is not just another feature update; it’s a testament to Twitch’s commitment to its community and a beacon of hope for those who may find themselves in distress.

Twitch has started providing discreet mental health support via its Safety Center, which has sparked enthusiasm among viewers.

On October 10th, our company shared that we’re making available mental health resources for times when additional assistance is needed, when seeking someone to confide in, or when aiming to discover methods to aid a friend or loved one.

Streamers can easily access Twitch’s confidential mental health services by navigating to the widget found within the Safety Center on Twitch.

When employing the widget, streamers can anticipate encountering instances of crises that encompass topics such as bullying, abuse (both physical and emotional), domestic violence, eating disorders and body image issues, anxiety, among others.

When we’ve identified options that are relevant to you, helpful contacts such as local hotlines and national phone numbers will appear to make things easier for you.

Additionally, you have the option to narrow down your search based on location, connecting you with services in your area or close by if that’s more convenient for you.

They mentioned their goal was to establish a convenient, easily accessible ‘go-to’ spot for everyone. This move is part of our commitment to enhance our community’s experience, with more features and improvements coming up in the future.

Following Twitch’s announcement about their mental health resources, I was truly amazed and proud to be part of such an extraordinary community, where we all unanimously agreed that it’s simply incredible!

“This is incredible,” tweeted one. “Big W — this is honestly great,” added another.

After the well-known Twitch streamer, Sketch, had personal images leaked, it became necessary to provide mental health resources.
