Starting today, October 10, at 7 AM Pacific Time / 10 AM Eastern Time, you can preorder the PS5 Slim Digital 30th Anniversary Edition from major retailers. This PS1-inspired console retails for $500 and will be released on November 21. Given its popularity, it’s expected to sell out quickly, much like other Anniversary Edition products that went up for preorder at PlayStation Direct on September 26. The only other 30th Anniversary hardware available from major retailers is the $80 special-edition controller accompanying the PS5 Slim Digital, which also sold out rapidly at all retailers on September 26.
The special edition of the PS5 Slim Digital, called the PS5 Slim Digital Anniversary Edition, is priced at $100 more than the standard version, yet offers the same hardware and features. What sets it apart are unique faceplates and a DualSense controller with a gray design inspired by the original PlayStation console. This edition only supports digital games, as it lacks a disc drive, which is an additional feature you can purchase if needed. The optional PS5 Disc Drive accessory comes with an extra PS1-themed faceplate for the drive. Normally priced at $80, the disc drive is currently scarce due to the upcoming PS5 Slim Digital Anniversary Collection and a disc-drive-less PS5 Pro.
