As a seasoned Destiny 2 player with years of Guardian duty under my belt, I can confidently say that this latest collaboration between Bungie and Discord is a stroke of genius! The ease at which I was able to earn the Celestial Ties shader by simply logging in and playing for a mere 15 minutes is nothing short of miraculous.
In collaboration with Discord, developers at Bungie have featured Destiny 2 within one of the chat platform’s promotional quests for video games. By logging into the latest content season, Revenant, players will receive a complimentary shader as a reward.
The shader named Celestial Ties, introduced during the Season of the Lost in 2022, can be easily obtained if you’re a Discord user. All you need to do is spend 15 minutes playing Destiny 2. After completing that step, you can claim the quest on Discord and receive a redemption code which you can use on Bungie’s website to get the shader. It’s quite straightforward – I managed to finish the quest and obtain my shader before I even finished writing this article.
Here’s what Celestial Ties looks like applied in action.
Discord has introduced a novel way of advertising on its platform by introducing “quests” for users, which might be unfamiliar if you haven’t come across them yet. Essentially, Discord is a chat service that provides both voice and text options, frequently used as an alternative to in-game chat systems. Quests motivate you to play a particular game while using the Discord app. The rewards for completing quests can differ, but some have previously given users unique icons or images to customize their Discord profile pictures. Interestingly, the Destiny 2 quest is the first I’ve encountered that offers an in-game item instead.
As a gamer, I can jump right into this adventure on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, or PS5. The quest can be completed by October 22, but here’s the best part: even after finishing the actual quest, you have until December 31 to redeem your shader!
To get started with the quest for Revenant, you’ll need to locate it within Discord first, which might be tricky if you’re unsure of its whereabouts. The Quests section can be found in Discord’s “Discover” tab, represented by a small icon that looks like a compass. This tab is located on the left side of your server and contacts list, at the bottom of the app. Once you’ve found it, simply click ‘accept’ to initiate the quest and decide whether you want to play on PC or console.
After completing that task, all you have left to do is spend 15 minutes playing Destiny 2 while keeping Discord open at the same time. A prompt will appear on Discord when the task is finished, offering a code for you to claim the quest. You can then use this code on the Bungie redemption website (bungie.net/redeem). However, remember that in order to do so, your Bungie and Discord accounts must be linked, and you should log in on the Bungie site.
In the game Destiny 2, you can obtain the shader from the Special Deliveries kiosk situated between Banshee and Rahool’s Cryptarch, both of which are found within the Tower.
