As a longtime fan of the small screen, I must say that this lineup of upcoming TV shows is nothing short of extraordinary! Each creator brings their unique perspective and impressive resume to the table, making for some truly intriguing projects.


This autumn, television programming spans from comedies and dramas to limited series and reboots, marking their grand return. But who’s crafting these shows? Here, EbMaster sheds light on the masterminds behind some of the most buzzed-about new series set to air in the upcoming months.

Kevin Abbott, the writer and executive producer of “Happy’s Place,” has collaborated with Reba McEntire previously, both as a scriptwriter for and production lead on “Reba.” Prior to this, Abbott oversaw 160 episodes of “Last Man Standing” and contributed to several other shows including “My Name Is Earl,” “Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place,” “Roseanne” and “The Golden Girls.”

Joe Barton is the creator of “Black Doves,” a gripping spy thriller that takes place during Christmas in London. Starring Keira Knightley, this series has been under Barton’s direction for the past five years. During this time, he also produced “Giri/Haji,” “The Bastard Son & the Devil Himself,” and “The Lazarus Project.” This upcoming production is being brought to you by Noisy Bear and Sister, with its premiere scheduled for December on Netflix.

Ronan Bennett is responsible for the British adaptation of Frederick Forsyth’s novel, “The Day of the Jackal,” featuring Eddie Redmayne in the lead role. Known for creating the British thriller “Top Boy,” Bennett will also pen all 10 episodes for the upcoming spin-off series of “Ray Donovan,” titled “The Donovans.”

I, a passionate movie reviewer, had the privilege of watching the gripping thriller “The Madness,” masterfully crafted by co-showrunner Stephen Belber. Known for his Emmy-winning work on plays, Broadway productions, and directing “O.G.” and “The Laramie Project,” Belber’s storytelling prowess shines brightly in this gripping series.

Jon Brown is the showrunner and executive producer, and he wrote the pilot for “The Franchise,” a comedy that follows a movie crew working on a superhero film. This series is produced by Armando Iannucci and Sam Mendes. Jon Brown’s previous work includes writing numerous episodes for shows like “Succession,” “Avenue 5,” “Dead Pixels,” and “Loaded.” It is produced by Dundee Prods, Neal Street Prods, and will premiere on October 6th on HBO.

The psychological thriller titled “Disclaimer,” helmed by Alfonso Cuarón, stars Cate Blanchett and is set to premiere on October 11th on Apple TV+. Notably, this is Cuarón’s inaugural venture into television, having previously directed films such as “Roma,” “Gravity,” “Y Tu Mama También,” and “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.” The production companies involved are Apple Studios, Esperanto Filmoj, and Anonymous Content.

Liz FeldmanLisa Kudrow and Ray Romano are two of many A-listers who lead “No Good Deed,” a dark comedy about three families trying to buy the same house with dark mysteries inside. Executive producer and showrunner Feldman also writes and directs multiple episodes. She previously wrote on “2 Broke Girls,” “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and “Hot in Cleveland,” but is best-known for creating “Dead to Me.”

In a modern retelling of the 1999 movie “Cruel Intentions,” the story unfolds at an elite Washington D.C. college. Sara Goodman, who is responsible for the 2021 adaptation of “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” serves as its creator and executive producer. Phoebe Fisher was a writer on that series.

Pilar Golden is the executive producer of “Beyond Black Beauty,” a drama that follows a young equestrian with aspirations for the Olympics whose life takes an unexpected turn. Previously, Golden has worked on the 2021 reboot of “Gossip Girl” and “God Friended Me.”

Claudia Grazioso takes on the role of showrunner for Hallmark’s inaugural holiday TV series titled “Holidazed.” This heartwarming show revolves around six families residing in a cul-de-sac who unite during the festive season. Previously, Grazioso has written 41 episodes of “Are We There Yet?” and several holiday TV films. The series is produced by Unity Pictures and Little Engine Prods., with its debut set on Hallmark+ on November 14.

I, Tasha Huo, have the honor to serve as showrunner for the much-anticipated animated series, “Tomb Raider: Legend of Lara Croft.” Set 25 years after Lara’s initial appearance, this thrilling adventure continues her epic journey. Additionally, I was the writer behind the upcoming sword and sorcery film, “Red Sonja.” Produced by Legendary Television, Tractor Pants, Crystal Dynamics, and Powerhouse Animation, you can catch this exhilarating series starting October 10th, only on Netflix.

Eric Ledgin is one of the executive producers for the mockumentary titled “St. Denis Medical,” which revolves around a financially strapped and understaffed hospital. Previously a writer for “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon,” Ledgin has worked on shows like “Superstore,” “American Auto,” and “Rutherford Falls.” This production is jointly done by Universal Television and Spitzer Holding Co., and it premieres on NBC starting November 12th.

CBS selected Gina Lucita Monreal and David J. North, who are well-versed with the character, to narrate Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ origins for the spin-off series “NCIS: Origins.” Monreal has worked on 10 seasons of “NCIS,” as well as shows like “Brothers & Sisters,” “Star Wars: The Bad Batch” and “Griselda.” North, meanwhile, produced 10 seasons of the same show and co-wrote Mark Harmon’s final episode. Their other credits include “Rizzoli & Isles” and “Scorpion.” This production is set to premiere on October 14th, airing on CBS.

Ian McCulloch, a newcomer to the role of showrunner, is executive producing James Wan’s thriller titled “Teacup,” starring Yvonne Strahovski. Previously, he has been involved in production and writing for shows like “Yellowstone,” “Chicago Fire,” and “Deputy.”

The third series in the “Big Bang Theory” franchise, titled “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage“, is a spinoff of “Young Sheldon”. Given that Steve Holland and Steven Molaro have been part of the “Big Bang Theory” team for over a decade, it’s no surprise they are at the helm for this new adaptation. The production company behind this series is Chuck Lorre Prods., with its premiere set for October 17 on CBS.

Marco Ramirez, a creative mind, has brought to life “La Máquina,” a story revolving around an elderly boxer in pursuit of one last chance at the title. The stars from the film “Y Tu Mamá También,” Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna, reunite for this captivating tale. Ramirez has also co-created the revival of “The Twilight Zone” and contributed to the writing teams of “Sons of Anarchy” and “Daredevil.” This compelling production is a joint effort between Searchlight Television and La Corriente del Golfo, set to premiere on October 9th exclusively on Hulu.

Alison Schapker was the showrunner for “Dune: Prophecy,” a prequel to the 2021 movie, following her stint as producer on shows like “Fringe,” “Scandal,” and “Westworld.” She had previously served as showrunner for “Altered Carbon.” This upcoming series is produced by HBO and Legendary Television, with its premiere scheduled for November on HBO.

Mike Schur’s new comedy, titled “A Man on the Inside,” is an adaptation of the 2021 documentary “The Mole Agent.” This project brings Schur together once again with “The Good Place” star Ted Danson, who takes the lead role. With a rich TV career behind him, thanks to shows like “The Office,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” and “Master of None,” Schur has earned an impressive 19 Emmy nominations. The series is produced by Universal TV, Fremulon, 3 Arts Entertainment, Micromundo Producciones, and Motto Pictures, and it will premiere in November on Netflix.

In a new series titled “Landman,” Taylor Sheridan takes us into the world of oil rigs, inspired by Christian Wallace’s “Boomtown” podcast. Renowned for his work on “Yellowstone,” as well as co-creating “Mayor of Kingstown” and creating the crime drama “Tulsa King,” Sheridan is the driving force behind this production. The series is being produced by Bosque Ranch Productions, 101 Studios, Imperative Development, and MTV Entertainment Studios, and it premieres on Paramount+ on November 17th.

As a movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share my thoughts on the gripping series “Sweetpea”, a twisted thriller that I had the pleasure of working on as both writer and executive producer, along with Patrick Walters, Helen Gregory, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Ella Purnell, and Ella Jones. This captivating production is loosely based on C.J. Skuse’s cult novel. Produced by See-Saw Films and Sky Studios, it premieres on Starz on October 10th.

Sarah Thorp is the creator and head of production for the psychological thriller “Before,” starring Billy Crystal. Previously, she worked as a producer and writer on shows like “Damien” and “Hawthorne,” and wrote the 2010 comedy film “The Bounty Hunter.” The series is produced by Paramount Television Studios and premieres on October 25th on Apple TV+.

Ben Watkins is the creator of the series “Cross,” which is inspired by James Patterson’s Alex Cross book series and features Aldis Hodge in the lead role. Watkins has previously worked on shows like “Truth Be Told,” “Wu-Tang: An American Saga,” “Hand of God,” and “Burn Notice.” The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Paramount Television Studios, and Skydance Television, and it will premiere on November 14th on Amazon Prime Video.

Charles Yu, renowned for his work in “Interior Chinatown”, is taking the helm as showrunner in the television adaptation of his 2020 book, with Taika Waititi serving as executive producer. The acclaimed writer has previously contributed to the writing team on “Westworld.” Produced by 20th Television, this series will premiere on Hulu on November 19.

Based on Patrick Radden Keefe’s popular book “Say Nothing,” the series covers a 40-year period in Northern Ireland during the conflict known as The Troubles. The creator, Josh Zetumer, is also known for writing “Patriots Day” and “RoboCop.”
