As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I’ve seen my fair share of platformers – from the iconic Ratchet & Clank to the whimsical Kirby series. So when I heard about Virballs, the new action-platformer by Bolder Games, I was intrigued. The limited-time demo during Steam Next Fest has only solidified my curiosity.
On October 22, Steam Early Access will see the arrival of Bolder Games’ action-platformer, Virballs. However, enthusiastic gamers can get a sneak peek ahead of time during the limited-time demo for Steam Next Fest. The latest Early Access trailer showcases the game’s fast-paced action and charming cartoon aesthetic.
In the trailer preview, we see that the wicked Dr. Corvid’s spacecraft, ominously known as the Corvus Cruiser, encountered space patrol, only to crash catastrophically, scattering its sinister creations across various planets, causing chaos and fear among the native Floobers. As an Object Removal Bot (ORB), your mission is to tidy up this mess, which involves harnessing the elemental capabilities of virballs to generate numerous kinds of ammunition and collecting cores to boost your arsenal of abilities.
In the Early Access preview, you can see your ORB character utilizing its power of absorption, battling swarms of virball enemies, and maneuvering through exotic alien worlds. The developers at Bolder aim to craft a platformer game that recalls the charm of the Ratchet & Clank and Kirby series. Although no specific launch date has been set, Bolder guarantees six diverse planets to discover upon the debut of version 1.0, scheduled for 2025.
Starting today until October 21st, you can access a Steam Next Fest demo. The Early Access phase, however, starts from October 22nd onwards.
