As a seasoned cinephile with over three decades of movie-watching under my belt, I must say that this week’s streaming rankings have left me utterly astounded! The sheer magnitude of viewership for these titles is simply jaw-dropping.
The new release titled ‘Nobody Wants This’ secured the first position on Luminate’s weekly charts for streaming original viewership, matching last week’s leader, ‘Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story’, both garnering impressive figures of 1.7 billion minutes each.
In its inaugural week on Netflix, the rom-com series “Nobody Wants This,” featuring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody, garnered a significant viewership total. On the other hand, “Monsters” entered its second full week on the streaming platform after debuting at the top spot, with a staggering 2.7 billion minutes watched within the September 20-26 viewing period.
During its initial week on Netflix, Vince McMahon’s documentary series “Mr. McMahon” ranked as the third most-viewed title, amassing a total of 765.6 million minutes watched. In second place was Season 2 of “Tulsa King,” which aired its third episode during this period and garnered 568.5 million minutes viewed. Interestingly, even Season 1 of “Tulsa King” made an appearance on the list this week, securing the seventh spot with 228.5 million minutes watched.
In its fourth complete week on air, “The Ideal Duo” ranked as the fifth most-watched title overall, with a total of 523.8 million minutes streamed. Trailing closely behind was “The Lord of the Rings: The Power of the Rings” Season 2, which garnered 358.5 million minutes viewed during this same period. This week marked the debut of the season’s seventh episode and the premiere of its finale for the first time.
Among the remaining TV shows listed, “Bad Monkey,” “Emily in Paris,” and “Agatha All Along” were watched for fewer than 300 million collective minutes.
In its initial week, George Clooney and Brad Pitt’s Apple TV+ film “Wolfs” ranked number one on the movie chart with a viewership of 435.5 million minutes, while “Jailbreak: Love on the Run” came in second place with 382.4 million minutes watched.
In its debut week on Netflix, the documentary titled “Will & Harper,” starring Will Ferrell and Harper Steele, was viewed for a total of 230.5 million minutes, placing it at the third spot. Only two other titles surpassed the 200-million-minute mark in their respective opening weeks: “Killer Heat” with 216.3 million views and “Rebel Ridge” with 210.9 million views during its fourth week.
Among the following titles, you’ll find “Street Basketball”, “Flat 7A”, “Bangkok Confidential: Paradise and Purgatory”, “The Unseen Casualty: The Eliza Samudio Incident” and “Uglies”.
