As A Big Fan Of Tangled I’m So Glad Its Being Added To Disneyland, Even If It’s A ‘Small’ Change

Disney has always known how powerful princess stories can be, starting with their very first film. From classics like Snow White to modern favorites like Anna and Elsa, Disney Princesses have become a huge brand, and everyone has a different one they love. However, some princesses don’t get as much attention as others, particularly in Disney Parks. I think *Tangled* deserves more representation in the parks.

Disney’s *Tangled* is a truly excellent animated movie, and it’s easily one of my favorites. I vividly remember seeing it in theaters – the “I See the Light” scene was a stunning example of 3D filmmaking. My wife and I were such big fans that we even dressed up as Flynn Rider and Rapunzel for a trip to Disneyland! While *Tangled* isn’t heavily featured at Disney Parks, that’s starting to change a little bit, though opportunities for photos with Rapunzel and Flynn are still limited.

Rapunzel’s Tower Is being Added To The Storybook Land Canal Boats

Disneyland is celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2025, but one original attraction has been unavailable during the festivities. The Storybook Land Canal Boats, a gentle boat ride featuring miniature scenes from classic Disney films, is set to reopen this winter with a new addition: Rapunzel’s Tower. This will be the first update to the ride since Arendelle Castle from *Frozen* was added in 2014.

The new tower is being added to the attraction’s route without removing anything existing, which will please fans who don’t like to see beloved features changed. Guests will also have a good reason to ride the Storybook Canal Boats more than once to experience the addition. Throughout the day, you’ll hear an arrangement of “When Will My Life Begin?”, which will switch to a version of “Now I See the Light” in the evening.

Although the movie *Tangled* inspired a fantastic ride at Tokyo DisneySea, contracts prevent a similar attraction from being built in Disney parks in the United States. Here at home, the only noticeable *Tangled* presence at Magic Kingdom is a small themed area located between Fantasyland and Liberty Square – and it’s only a restroom. There are no rides or restaurants based on the film.

The Disneyland Opening Day Attraction Was A Favorite Of Walt Disney Himself

Even though it’s a small change to Disneyland, I’m really excited about it. As a big fan of the movie *Tangled*, it’s wonderful to see it acknowledged anywhere, but having it included in such a beloved ride is especially meaningful.

Walt Disney loved miniatures, and he originally planned a whole area of Disneyland filled with tiny, detailed scenes. This ambitious idea eventually became the Canal Boats of the World attraction. However, the initial version didn’t work well and only operated for a short time before being redesigned and reopened as the Storybook Land Canal Boats, which guests enjoy today.

Given the rich history of this popular destination, every detail matters, no matter how small. The new addition, though featuring miniature buildings, will open this winter.
