What is protein Diet Coke? Dirty soda goes viral after MomTok’s obsession

As a self-proclaimed soda connoisseur and a die-hard fan of all things TikTok, I must admit that the protein Diet Coke trend has caught my attention like never before! Growing up in the Midwest, I was no stranger to creative soda concoctions, but this one takes the cake (or should I say, shake?).

Following the popularity of the protein-infused Diet Coke, particularly in Utah where ‘dirty soda’ gained prominence, TikTok users started experimenting with this latest trend, eager to join in the app’s current wave.

In September, when Hulu’s Secret Lives of Mormon Wives premiered, viewers discovered that a popular trend among TikTok’s MomTok community involved mixing sodas with flavored syrups and creamers, a habit they found quite intriguing.

The dirty soda craze then led to another bubbly trend that popped off on TikTok in late September; the protein Diet Coke.

Instead of mixing Diet Coke with a homemade vanilla protein shake, many individuals opt for a ready-made protein shake and mix it with an ice-cold Diet Coke instead.

On her popular TikTok account, Rebecca Gordon demonstrated the recipe for the viral beverage she had created. In a video that garnered over 2.5 million views, she visited a gas station in Utah, the birthplace of MomTok, to acquire the required ingredients.

Utah’s current trend is the high-protein version of Diet Coke,” Gordon remarked, “I give it a perfect score,” she concluded.

As a dedicated gamer, I – one who goes by wishbonekitchen online and is recognized for my culinary skills and love for Diet Coke – couldn’t resist giving that viral beverage a try myself.

Hayden excitedly declared, “Girls from Utah really understand their fizzy drinks, so let’s give it a try!” After expressing surprise and admiration, he said, “Oh my goodness, this is amazing… I thought I would enjoy it, but I absolutely adore it!

She also compared the protein Diet Coke to a root beer float, saying that the taste was “identical.”

As a passionate gamer, I couldn’t help but share my enthusiasm for the protein-packed Diet Coke! The whopping 42 grams of protein hidden in its vanilla shake variant is an unexpected yet delightful bonus that keeps me energized and focused on my gaming sessions.

She stated, “The meal has approximately 230 calories since Diet Coke contributes nothing, and it contains a whopping 42 grams of protein – wow! Mmm, it tastes fantastic. I’m definitely keen to sample it with root beer as well.

Beyond the protein Diet Coke, the fluffy Coca-Cola concoction (which consists of a marshmallow-coated glass, crushed ice, and regular Coca-Cola) also became popular on TikTok.
