Fawad Khan, Vaani Kapoor Commence Romantic Comedy ‘Abir Gulaal’ in London (EXCLUSIVE)

As a seasoned movie critic who has witnessed the evolution of South Asian cinema, I am thrilled to see the collaboration between Pakistani superstar Fawad Khan and Bollywood beauty Vaani Kapoor in “Abir Gulaal.” This romantic comedy, set against the picturesque backdrop of London, promises to be a delightful journey that transcends national boundaries.

Acting sensation Fawad Khan from Pakistan, alongside the renowned Bollywood actress Vaani Kapoor, have commenced filming their upcoming romantic comedy “Abir Gulaal” at various spots in and around London.

As a fervent admirer, I’m thrilled to share that the upcoming film I can’t wait for is being directed by none other than Aarti S. Bagdi, renowned for her work on “Chalti Rahe Zindagi.” This masterpiece is being brought to life by the collective efforts of Indian Stories, A Richer Lens, and Aarjay Pictures. The esteemed producers responsible for this production are Vivek B. Agrawal, Avantika Hari, and Rakesh Sippy. Excitingly, it’s going to be filmed in the U.K., during the months of October and November.

According to Bagdi, the movie portrays the story of two people who aid one another’s healing process without intending to, and in the process, find themselves falling in love.

Beginning in 2016, a de facto ban was imposed on Pakistani artists participating in Indian films due to political disagreements between the two countries. However, in 2023, the Bombay High Court overturned a request to make this ban official. The court’s ruling emphasized that creative pursuits like art, music, sports, culture, dance, and so on transcend nationalities, cultures, and borders, promoting peace, tranquility, unity, and harmony within countries and between them.

In India, Khan has achieved idol status due to his leading roles in popular Bollywood films like “Khoobsurat” (2014) and “Kapoor & Sons” (2016). He also appeared in “Ms. Marvel” (2022) and “The Legend of Maula Jatt” (2022), the latter being Pakistan’s most successful film ever, though its Indian release is temporarily halted due to objections from a right-wing group. Khan is currently starring in the hit Zindagi series “Barzakh,” which premiered at Series Mania in 2023.

In 2021, Kapoor, who received critical praise for his portrayal of a transgender character in the film “Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui”, will also be the lead actor in the upcoming Netflix crime thriller series “Mandala Murders” and the Bollywood drama-comedy “Badtameez Gill”.

The team behind “Abir Gulaal” stated: “Fawad has a vast international fan base, and we believe that viewers and his fans will warmly accept this movie, given that it presents him in an especially appealing character. The interaction between Fawad and Vaani is expected to illuminate the screen with their compelling performances and undeniable allure.
