As a seasoned Destiny 2 gamer with years of gaming under my belt, I can’t help but feel a wave of nostalgia mixed with anticipation as Bungie announces the revamp of The Inverted Spire Strike. Having played this strike since its inception back in 2017, I’ve seen the power creep, felt the gameplay design improvements, and watched the game evolve over the years.
Starting October 8 with the launch of Episode Revenant, The Inverted Spire Strike from Destiny 2 will undergo a significant visual overhaul.
Since Destiny 2’s debut in 2017, the Vanguard Strike has been around, but due to power advancements and gameplay enhancements over the years, it now feels outdated. With only minor adjustments for seven years, Bungie announced on October 3 that they will be significantly updating it, with a “Vex-like resurgence.
The developer went on to explain further, stating that an updated narrative would be implemented instead of the current one. This new tale will primarily focus on the Vex, who now serve as the primary antagonists in this upcoming phase.
Concerning mechanical adjustments, the developer chose not to reveal significant plot twists but hinted that the Vex would have robust defenses and fresh units at their disposal. Additionally, Wyverns, the basis for Choir of One, were mentioned explicitly, suggesting a more challenging obstacle course than previously encountered.
Previously, Bungie has updated older versions of Destiny 2 Strikes like The Lake of Shadows and Arms Dealer. This happened in 2023 along with the release of Lightfall. These updates received a mix of feedback, particularly from players who enjoyed the original versions more.
In other words, Strike didn’t get fresh loot, instead it underwent alterations in its encounters. For instance, Lake of Shadows incorporated an escort mission during its initial half, drawing inspiration from the Witch Queen’s Vow of the Disciple Raid. So, expect comparable adjustments in pacing and objectives for The Inverted Spire as well.
From what we’ve observed thus far, it appears that Episode Revenant will offer more substantial content compared to Echoes, which debuted along with The Final Shape in June.
As an enthusiastic fan, I’m thrilled to share that “The Revenant” is set to arrive on October 8! A brand-new Dungeon, Vesper’s Host, follows suit on October 11. Dive into our hubs for both, and don’t miss out on the details about the World First race for Vesper’s Host. Let the adventure continue!
