‘Mystery Science Theater 3000’ Team’s RiffTrax Sets Weekly Movie Streaming Deal With Nebula (EXCLUSIVE)

As a film enthusiast who has spent countless hours immersed in the rich tapestry of cinematic delights, I can confidently say that the partnership between RiffTrax and Nebula is a match made in heaven. The sheer volume of their combined content is astounding, with over 1,000 titles under RiffTrax’s belt and a platform like Nebula that caters to creators.

RiffTrax, the live event and entertainment company started by three “Mystery Science Theater 3000″ veterans, has secured a distribution agreement with independent streaming platform Nebula.

The agreement involves RiffTrax delivering both their current content and fresh creations to the streaming service, a platform predominantly controlled by a group of Nebula creators.

Starting from October 5th, RiffTrax will kick off its weekly “Saturday Cinema” program on Nebula. The inaugural lineup consists of five shorts, all accompanied by their signature RiffTrak commentary. This week’s debut presents a re-release of the horror classic “Night of the Living Dead,” complete with RiffTrax’s humorous commentary.

Back in 2006, a trio of talented individuals from the “Mystery Science Theater 3000” series, namely Michael J. Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett, established RiffTrax as their creative venture. This company specializes in generating humorous commentary similar to that found in “MST3K,” but for a wide variety of films spanning numerous genres. As a big fan, I can’t help but appreciate the wit and humor they bring to these classic cinematic experiences!

RiffTrax boasts a collection of more than 1,000 movies and has created five television specials for the National Geographic Channel. Additionally, it offers two mobile apps and a game titled “RiffTrax: The Game,” which can be played on Mac, PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. RiffTrax Live events, featuring live commentary during a movie that is broadcasted into over 700 theaters across North America, are produced by them several times per year.

Dave Wiskus, CEO of Nebula, expressed his excitement about the new collaboration. He considers the RiffTrax team as trailblazers, not just in comedy but also in the realms of digital video and entertainment. Working with them, he admits, is a long-held dream realized.

For almost two decades, we’ve been an independent and artist-run company. Now, we’re incredibly excited about our collaboration with Nebula, a platform that supports creators. With our extensive history of making fun of movies with ‘space’ or ‘galaxy’ in the title, this partnership feels like a perfect fit. We can’t wait to share our unique sense of humor with many people who may not have seen classics like ‘Galaxy Invader’ and ‘Plan 9 From Outer Space’ yet,” said RiffTrax president and head writer Nelson.
