Now is the perfect time to release Black Ops 2 on Game Pass

As a seasoned Call of Duty enthusiast with memories of the franchise’s golden age etched deeply into my gaming history, I can confidently say that now is the perfect time for Microsoft to drop Black Ops 2 onto Xbox Game Pass.

With Microsoft’s recent acquisition of Activision, Black Ops 6 becomes the initial Call of Duty title available on Xbox Game Pass Day One. This peaceful interval presents an ideal opportunity for the release of Black Ops 2 on Game Pass.

Call of Duty is experiencing a dip in activity following summer, as fans eagerly await the release of BO6 on October 25th. The thrill from CoD Next has subsided, the beta phase is complete, and there seems to be a reduction in the variety of game modes available for Warzone, which may deter some players from continuing to engage with it.

During the quieter periods (off-season), it’s delightful to return to beloved games. However, the experience would be even smoother if Microsoft could accelerate the addition of more Activision classics to their Game Pass subscription service, particularly Black Ops 2.

Among the older Call of Duty titles, any one would be delightful, but particularly Black Ops 2 stands out as an excellent choice before Black Ops 6. This isn’t just because it’s often ranked among the top CoD games ever made, but also because its campaign serves as a direct prequel to the upcoming game.

A significant portion of the story unfolds between 1986 and 1989, with developers confirming that Black Ops 6’s narrative continues as a direct sequel from this timeframe. I won’t delve into spoilers, but characters we left in Cold War will find themselves in drastically altered situations during the Gulf War, all due to events in Black Ops 2.

If you’re fond of the storyline, it’s definitely worth revisiting to catch up on Woods and Mason or refresh your memory. Moreover, regardless of your interest in the campaign, everyone should have the opportunity to savor Call of Duty multiplayer in its top form.

Since the game was first launched in 2012, many of today’s Call of Duty players would have been too young to experience it when it initially came out. Consequently, they might have missed out on the franchise’s heyday. The game’s masterfully designed maps and exceptional weapon balance are just a few reasons why it’s so highly regarded.

If you’re looking for something fun to pass the time, either for a blast from the past or to find out why everyone’s talking about it, playing private matches of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 with your friends could make a great activity.

One way to rephrase the statement in a more natural and easy-to-read manner could be: The issue with Game Pass is that older Call of Duty games are still being sold at full price digitally. For instance, on Steam, this 12-year-old game costs an astonishing $59.99, and it’s the same on the Microsoft Store. Not to forget, there’s also a $50 season pass for additional content.

Instead of insisting you shouldn’t pay for it, should Microsoft make it available on their Game Pass service, it would present an ideal chance to delve into the narrative and multiplayer of one of the finest Call of Duty games ever created.

It’s a different question altogether if we find those classic Call of Duty games available through Microsoft’s subscription service. Frankly, I thought we would have seen at least a few of these older versions on Game Pass by now, given the acquisition took place last October. However, only Modern Warfare 3 has been added to the platform so far.

Microsoft’s CEO, Phil Spencer, has announced their plans to bring the extensive collection of beloved games from Activision Blizzard, such as Overwatch, Diablo, and Call of Duty, to their subscription service, Game Pass.

If there are plans to add classic Call of Duty titles such as Black Ops 2 to Game Pass, let’s seize this moment and enjoy them!
