As a longtime fan of the Horizon series, I can’t help but feel a bit perplexed by this recent turn of events. The disappearance of the Complete Edition from the Epic Games Store and the sudden price hike on the PlayStation Store have left me scratching my head. It seems like Sony is pushing us towards the remastered version, which I’m excited about, but I can’t help but feel a bit short-changed as a loyal fan who already bought the Complete Edition not too long ago.
PlayStation has made pre-orders available for the upcoming LEGO Horizon Adventures, as they prepare to launch Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered on October 31st, 2025. Some observant fans have noticed that the Complete Edition of Horizon Zero Dawn seems to be missing from one online marketplace prior to the remaster’s debut.
For the past several hours, information has been circulating online that the game cannot be bought from the Epic Games Store, even though it’s still displayed on their digital storefront. This circumstance has caused some speculation among players, suggesting that Epic Games might be encouraging people to choose the remastered version instead, which is currently available for pre-order.
According to video game news source VGC, reported by Jordan Middler, the Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition has been removed from the Epic Games Store. This affects the PC version of the game, making it unsearchable and unavailable for purchase, even when using the search box. Additionally, it’s been noted that some regions, including South Africa, are unable to buy the Complete Edition, as it shows up as “Unavailable” in those areas.
Instead, players will be directed towards the Horizon Zero Dawn: Remastered store page on Epic Games Store, where they can now pre-purchase or add it to their wishlist. For clarification, Steam is currently offering the game’s Complete Edition, which encompasses the Remastered upgrade option, standalone game, and bundle – all of which are available for purchase.
It’s unclear if Epic Games has addressed the reason behind the original game’s removal from their digital marketplace, but there have been some changes observed on the PlayStation Store. As per Insider Gaming’s reports, the price of Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition has risen to $39.99 / €39.99 / £34.99. This price hike, according to their information, was previously set at $19.99 / €19.99 / £15.99 before 25th September 2024. Sony has yet to provide an explanation for the price increase of Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition.
