YouTube Stars Sam and Colby Talk ‘Legends of the Paranormal’ Cinemark Release Expansion (EXCLUSIVE)

As a die-hard fan of Sam Golbach and Colby Brock, I can’t help but feel a sense of awe at their meteoric rise from YouTube sensations to silver screen stars! Their journey is a testament to their unwavering passion for the paranormal and their knack for captivating audiences.

Paranormal researchers Sam Golbach and Colby Brock have previously achieved YouTube fame, boasting over 13 million subscribers on their well-liked channel. Currently, this dynamic team is pursuing an additional challenging objective: breaking into the film industry and potentially becoming film stars.

Last year, Golbach and Brock (known as Sam and Colby to their fans) ventured into the world of cinema for the first time by premiering a special episode of “A Week at the Conjuring House” on YouTube two days early, in October 2023. On that day, a sneak peek was screened in 168 Cinemark theaters scattered throughout the United States.

For roughly four to five years now, we’ve been producing full-length videos for YouTube,” Golbach explains to EbMaster. “Last year, we reached out to Cinemark to explore the possibility of screening one of our YouTube videos in cinemas as a trial run, essentially serving as a demonstration project.

Following a swift sell-out success, they mapped out their next venture with grander ambitions. The pair’s upcoming 97-minute film, titled “Sam and Colby: The Paranormal Legends,” is slated for exclusive cinema screenings, but this time on a more expansive level.

In the movie, Brock shares that our team ventured to Mount Wilson Ranch in Nevada, not for the usual reasons, but rather in pursuit of extraordinary beings: cryptids, skinwalkers, aliens, ghosts, and more. This is a realm we’ve never delved into with our audience before, so it will cast an entirely new perspective on Sam, Colby, and their journey.

Initially planned for a three-day screenings on 260 Cinemark theaters, the immense enthusiasm from fans led to an extension of the release plan, now spanning over 350 screens for a full week, starting October 3. “Following our first weekend sales, we received a call from them!” Brock expressed, expressing his gratitude.

Should sales keep up their strong performance, Golbach indicates that Cinemark might consider showing the movie throughout the entire month of October.

Although Hollywood hasn’t historically recognized YouTubers in the movie industry, this duo argues that their pre-existing audience and knack for blending traditional film with online content positions them on the verge of a significant breakthrough for influencers. “This is the emerging form of entertainment, particularly for younger demographics such as Generation Z,” Brock emphasizes.

Golbach states, “People in conventional media tend to stick to old habits. They’re curious to see how YouTubers perform when we attempt something unprecedented like a theatrical release. I don’t think it will be until Colby and I consistently pull off these releases and match the market power of traditional media that they will fully acknowledge YouTube as genuine.

After enjoying a grand debut of their “Legends of the Paranormal” at the TCL Chinese Theatre, Golbach and Brock are already considering ways to make the next one even more spectacular. “Hopefully, this is just the start of our adventure,” Golbach remarks. “We’ve already begun discussions for a 2025 film.

Brock is optimistic that, as time passes and effort is put in, movies similar to theirs could become standard fare. “In about five to ten years, I believe everyone will grasp this concept.
