Disney+ Removes Four Indiana Jones Movies, Leaving Just One Left

As a seasoned gamer and longtime Indiana Jones fanatic, I must confess that the recent turn of events with the streaming saga of the iconic archaeologist has left me feeling like I’m navigating through an ancient temple filled with hidden traps and dead ends.

This past year, leading up to the debut of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Disney made available for streaming on their service, Disney+, the initial four Indiana Jones films: Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. However, as of now, only Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is still available for streaming on Disney+.

It’s not unexpected for fans of the series, given that Disney obtained Lucasfilm in 2012, gaining control over Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Willow, and more creations by George Lucas. However, this deal didn’t grant Disney rights to any films produced before 2012. Thus, distribution rights for the first four Indiana Jones movies still belong to Paramount. The same was true for the initial six Star Wars films, but in 2019, Disney acquired all of Fox’s entertainment assets, resolving this issue.

Initially, Paramount+ is the ideal platform for watching the first four Indiana Jones films, but currently, they have moved to Amazon’s Prime Video service. However, it is expected that these movies might reappear on Paramount+ in the future and could potentially be found on Peacock or Netflix as well.

The one piece of the Indiana Jones franchise that has now gone back into the vault is The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. Disney+ briefly streamed that series last year, but the show’s two-season run no longer has a streaming outlet.
