“I'm a Different Person Now”. NCIS Actress Pauley Perrette Has No Plans to Return to Acting

As a gamer who has followed Pauley Perrette‘s career for many years, it’s both fascinating and inspiring to see her evolve from a guest star on Frasier to the iconic Abby Sciuto in NCIS. However, her decision to step away from acting and embrace a new path in documentary production feels like a breath of fresh air.

Without a shadow of a doubt, Pauley Perrette has become a household name among NCIS fans, given her appearance in over 350 episodes. While she has been part of other productions as well, it’s clear that she has poured the most effort into this crime series, given the extensive time she has dedicated to it.

However, Perrette parted ways with the cast back in 2018. The final series featuring her aired in 2020. Following the termination of the show “Broke” where she held the main role, the star of NCIS retired from acting. In an interview with Hello!, she openly stated that she has no intentions of returning to acting ever again.

I appreciate the advantages I’ve received, but I’ve changed, and now I wish to experience everything – the positive, the negative, and the difficult aspects. I want to be true to myself, which takes courage for me to admit, but it’s genuinely how I feel about being here.

Previously, Perrette disclosed that her acting career was unintentional. Originally, she was pursuing a path in forensic science and sociology with aspirations to join the FBI. However, fate had other plans as she found herself guest-starring on various television shows, including Fraser. This accidental start eventually led her to secure a role on NCIS, where she portrayed Abby Sciuto for an impressive 15 years.

Currently, my personal journey is centered around seeking genuine experiences in every aspect of life, and as an actor, it provided a unique escape at certain junctures since it allowed me to step out of myself and become someone else. This character wasn’t burdened by the troubles I faced. My preference for documentaries stems from my yearning for truth, as they offer an authentic portrayal of reality. Returning to acting would disrupt the sincere authenticity that I strive to maintain in all aspects of my life at present.

At present, Perrette isn’t just a spectator of documentaries; she’s also actively involved in their production. In the year 2023, she served as a producer for the documentary titled Studio One Forever, which focuses on the legendary American gay disco club.
