The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Recap: Always Trust a Brow Lady

As a seasoned observer of reality television and a connoisseur of the human condition, I must say that this latest episode was nothing short of a rollercoaster ride. The dynamic between Meredith Marks and Whitney Wolfe Herd is indeed intriguing, with Meredith’s business-focused approach to social media rumors creating quite the stir. It’s a classic case of ‘keep your friends close and your enemies closer,’ if you ask me.

On this occasion, our group of women is embarking on their inaugural journey of the season to the enchanting city of Milwaukee. This isn’t about belittling Milwaukee or passing judgment, but I find it refreshing when reality TV stars visit a place that isn’t a lavish vacation spot. It gives them less opportunity to avoid each other by indulging in designer shopping and spa treatments. As they navigate their relationships on this trip, they are trying to reconnect with one another, though they carry lingering issues along with them.

Meredith initially expressed her intention to skip the journey, but she ultimately changed her mind. Brownyn is irritated with Lisa because she didn’t provide enough support during the Heather dispute, and Lisa remains upset with Angie for revealing that Lisa was angry with her to Whitney. Meanwhile, Angie is wrestling with whether or not to inform Britani about flirtatious messages she received from Mr. Jared Osmond. However, it’s uncertain who will emerge as the dominant figure this season, as no one appears to be more powerful than others at present — possibly the newcomers could alter the group dynamic on this trip.

The ladies choose between two social plans – visiting the bobblehead museum with Whitney or going for a pre-game gamble before watching the Bucks match. As they prepare, it becomes clear that Brownyn, accompanied by her styling team, shares an additional reason for her frustration towards Lisa with Angie.

Initially, finding Bronywyn with a glam team strikes me as amusing. It appears no one else has brought their entourage (at least for this initial event), and it seems like Bronwyn is making an effort to emulate a Real Housewife™. Your night’s agenda includes a bobblehead museum and a Bucks game! The wealth is evident, but her attempts to impress also manifest in her conversation with Angie. This same car ride where she was harsh on Whitney made Heather uneasy, and during this conversation, Lisa spoke disparagingly about Whitney’s friend, Meili, suggesting she might be banned from returning items at Nordstrom due to excessive returns.

I concur with your viewpoint. It’s puzzling why some forms of criticism cross the line and reveal a questionable character, while others do not. To me, it seems that Bronwyn is making a bold statement to demonstrate she won’t conform to this group’s norms and possibly challenge the existing power structure, which appears fragile. However, if her aim is justice, she would be better off channeling her energy elsewhere.

From the opposite perspective, we witness a post-mortem discussion involving Whitney and Heather. These two can switch from being extremely hostile to displaying affection, which is quite typical of distant relatives. Heather remains skeptical about Bronwyn’s innocence, a suspicion that Whitney reveals later stems from her past encounters. Heather is determined to avoid a repeat of the “Monica incident,” and it seems there was a noticeable difference in how Bronwyn spoke about Whitney to Heather and Meredith compared to when she addressed Whitney directly.

The ladies depart to prepare for the game. It’s sad to witness Britani feeling so low about Jared. Honestly, we don’t know much else about her at this point. If I could, I’d advise her to flee in another direction, which is why I was thankful for Lisa who seized her phone to text Jared casually instead. It speaks volumes about Britani that Lisa is teaching her how to stay calm. It’s nice to see Lisa doing something other than quarrel and play the victim. I must admit, I appreciate Lisa more when she’s relaxed.

After learning from Whitney during their chat that Meredith seemed hostile toward her for asking her to bring caviar, Heather unwisely shares this with Meredith during their casino trip instead. If these friends are at a delicate point where reconciliation could be effortless, why complicate matters by speaking up in such a manner? Heather often views herself as an open and straightforward individual who speaks her mind, but in this case, it’s best to avoid stirring the pot.

I do love where Meredith takes this. When she tells Heather that she was getting tagged on social media with information that Whitney’s brand is allegedly stealing designs from Alibaba and selling them for a lot more (I think this is dropshipping), she comes from an angle that, once again, this is an affront to her as a businesswoman. This is definitely juicy information, and I don’t doubt it is true, but it’s not an insult to Meredith Marks, and of course, Heather encourages Meredith to confront Whitney about it. Talk about stirring the pot.

After attending the Bucks game, I’m once more struck by Angie’s unwavering devotion to her Greek heritage. Unfortunately, she didn’t get a chance to meet Giannis Antetokounmpo this time, but I have faith that they’ll cross paths someday.

Mary has a few weird moments in this episode: not wanting to fly private with the ladies, picking up a call from her son who asks her to Cash App him sixty dollars, and also just her being at a bobblehead museum. However, Mary says the craziest thing she’s said in a long time — maybe since she told Whitney a cartoonish about how a woman at her church was ejected from her car?  In the Bucks suite, Angie asks Mary if she wants her to get some tissue from the restroom. When Mary replies to her by saying, “I don’t use public restrooms; I have to wait.” I thought, Typical Mary can’t piss outside her home. But when she added, “I always wear a tampon and it holds it,” I paused the show. Excuse me? Mary wears a super tampon, not having a period, because it helps her hold in her pee? The same Mary who said just two episodes ago she doesn’t take baths because she is afraid of UTIs? I wish so badly I could study this woman.

My shock at a new Mary fact quickly disappears when we see Britani get humiliated by her situationship. Angie is still holding onto the information her brow lady gave her, and as she watches Britani on FaceTime with Jared, she tells Bronwyn about the texts. I don’t like how Angie is moving here. It sucks being the messenger of news like this, but why tell Bronwyn, who’s been pretty mean to Britani, a woman she barely knows. Britani comes off strong, and her entire thing has been chasing a man who will not claim her. But the moment Britani realizes they’re talking about her and is told about the damning texts, I feel pretty sorry for her. It feels very high school. Yes, Britani is an adult woman who probably should know better, but it’s clear she is in a lot of pain. I’m glad Meredith comforts her while she cries in the bathroom.

Bronwyn advances towards her significant showdown with Lisa and Heather. It struck me as rather underhanded when she disclosed to Meili (accompanied on this journey as Whitney’s friend) the past remarks Lisa and Heather made about her in the car, primarily for the purpose of reinforcing her stance against them. It’s clear that Bronwyn values neither Meili nor the manipulative use of her in this dispute, a point emphasized by the direction in which she steers the argument.

It appears that Bronwyn and Lisa share many similarities, perhaps even more than either of them realizes. When Bronwyn didn’t feel threatened, Lisa took it upon herself to support her, albeit not with the same intensity as she would expect from others who don’t defend her in a manner she deems appropriate. This situation seems reminiscent of how Lisa feels when anyone fails to stand up for her in a way that aligns with her beliefs.

Bronwyn is determined to demonstrate that this group doesn’t act fairly. However, one must wonder if she understands the situation and her adversaries. It’s exciting when a new housewife brings change, but perhaps Bronwyn should moderate her approach and reconsider her tactics. Heather occasionally speaking negatively about Whitney or agreeing with it is not the same as what Bronwyn is doing. You can’t join a group that has experienced Jen Shah and Monica Garcia, expecting immediate trust.
