Andrew Garfield ‘Would 100% Come Back’ as Spider-Man if It’s ‘Additive to the Culture,’ Assumed Tobey Maguire Wouldn’t Return for ‘No Way Home’

As a die-hard Spider-Man fan who grew up with Andrew Garfield‘s captivating portrayal of Peter Parker, I can’t help but feel a profound sense of empathy and admiration for him. His journey as Spidey was cut short prematurely, much like the life of an average spider in a web, but he took it in stride and continued to weave his own tale.

In a recent interview with Esquire magazine, Andrew Garfield stated that he might reprise his role as Spider-Man following his well-received portrayal in “Spider-Man: No Way Home” last year, but only if the concept is original and beneficial to society. Garfield, who was nominated for two Oscars, initially played Peter Parker in 2012’s “The Amazing Spider-Man,” but his time as the superhero came to an end when the sequel “Amazing Spider-Man 2” failed to impress at the box office.

Garfield expressed disappointment when the Spider-Man role suddenly concluded, as it was the poor performance of his Spider-Man sequel that led Sony to collaborate with Disney, allowing the character to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe and paving the way for Tom Holland’s portrayal. The film “No Way Home” earned $1.9 billion globally by bringing Holland’s Spider-Man together with Garfield’s version as well as the one played by Tobey Maguire, who was the lead in three Spider-Man films directed by Sam Raimi.

Garfield expressed his initial reservations about Tobey’s involvement in ‘No Way Home’, mentioning that every decade, he acts and it usually leaves him feeling frustrated. However, when he learned that Tobey might be on board, he felt it could either be the best or worst decision. In the end, Garfield was overjoyed as it turned out to be an incredibly delightful experience. All the pressure was on Tom Holland during this project.

As a passionate cinephile, I can’t help but express my joy over the resounding triumph of “No Way Home” – a film that, in many ways, served as a powerful validation for Andrew Garfield’s portrayal of Spider-Man. The box office numbers were simply astounding, leaving comic book movie enthusiasts like myself eagerly anticipating any news about Mr. Garfield returning to the role.

The actor expressed that they would definitely return if the situation was fitting, especially if it enriches the environment, offers a fresh, distinctive idea or an intriguing, unusual concept that’s captivating. If there’s something compelling and fun to delve into, I’m all for it,” the actor said to Esquire. “I have a soft spot for that character, and it brings me happiness. If my presence contributes to joy, then I am delighted as well.

Tom Hardy has consistently expressed his readiness to reprise the role of Spider-Man should the situation be favorable, given that he believes this comic book character will likely headline his final epitaph. Subsequently, he can be seen alongside Florence Pugh in the A24 romantic drama “We Live in Time,” set to hit cinemas on October 11.
