Warzone DTIR gets secret buff despite dominating meta

As a dedicated player with countless hours under my belt in Call of Duty Warzone, I must say the October 1 update has been a breath of fresh air – or should I say clearer air? The unspoken buff to the DTIR 30-06 is a game-changer for me, as someone who’s often found myself squinting through the muzzle smoke.

In the October 1st update, the ammunition type for Call of Duty: Warzone’s DTIR (Designated Marksman Rifle), specifically the 30-06 variant, was subtly enhanced, though this adjustment wasn’t explicitly listed in the official patch notes.

As Black Ops 6 approaches, we’re seeing a decrease in updates for both Warzone and Modern Warfare 3. The beginning of Season 6 signaled the last significant overhaul to the game mechanics, which was favorable for weapons from Modern Warfare 2.

However, that doesn’t mean that the devs are completely abandoning either game. That has been made clear by the October 1 update for Warzone as the MW2 crossbow received a bit of a major buff.

In addition to some bug fixes, there was also a notable alteration to the DTIR 30-06. What sets this update apart is that the DTIR’s buffer was not included in the list of changes provided in the patch notes.

reddit user pnokmn, with a keen eye for detail, brought attention to the fact that the battle rifle’s smoky discharge and other visually distracting elements have been lessened in the game.

They requested that we end this unnecessary confusion and ensure everyone gets a clear view,” they said. “I believe players prefer the game less due to the obscuring muzzle effects and visual distractions.

Hidden Patch Notes (OCT 1): Muzzle Smoke reduction/correction for the DTIR. | Can we stop this foolishness and just let all players properly see? I highly doubt players like the game more because of the muzzle smoke/flash and visual noise.

Other players expressed great joy upon discovering the item. “This is significant! It significantly improved that gun. I just tested it out at the firing range, and there’s a clear improvement,” one player remarked.

Some, however, noted that the ongoing calls to remove visual clutter isn’t going to happen.

One person remarked, “They never seem to address these problems. Not once, not twice, but never.” Another suggested, “They’re pushing for you to purchase the Blackcell. It produces less smoke.

It seems significant alterations to Modern Warfare 3 are no longer feasible given the time of day, but Warzone will persist into Black Ops 6, and at that point, numerous modifications will take place.
