As a veteran Guardian with countless hours spent traversing the cosmos in Destiny 2, I can’t help but feel my heart race at the prospect of the Fighting Lion’s impending buff! This OG Exotic has been a staple in my arsenal since its inception, and the thought of it becoming even more formidable fills me with an exhilarating sense of nostalgia.
In the upcoming Episode Revenant release on October 8, one of Destiny 2’s original exotic items will receive a significant boost. This enhancement aligns well with the seasonal artifact’s focus on Grenade Launchers.
During a live stream held on October 1st, showcasing fresh content for Revenant Act 1, Bungie announced that Fighting Lion, currently the sole primary ammo Grenade Launcher within the game, will soon be complemented by another exotic weapon – an unnamed Stasis counterpart.
During the demonstration, the studio mentioned some changes upcoming for Fighting Lion. They confirmed that after the update, striking enemies with the weapon will make them explosive.
It’s unclear if this weapon will have the Destabilizing Rounds perk (where hitting final blows makes nearby enemies unstable) as an independent buff or only on direct hits, but either way, it will significantly boost Void build effectiveness.
Currently, Graviton Lance and Choir of One are among Destiny 2’s most powerful Exotic weapons because of their capability to cause Volatile effects. Given this, it seems plausible that Fighting Lion will also be included in this group after its recent buff.
Apart from the boost in power, the seasonal artifact of Revenant also includes various modifications aimed at significantly enhancing the overall performance of its weapon categories. Among these enhancements is Rapid Impact, which provides a short-term increase in reload speed for Grenade Launchers after causing damage with them.
Combined with the “Thin the Herd” perk of the Fighting Lion, which accelerates reloads following damage dealt and restocks magazines from swift kill blows, this one-shot launcher becomes incredibly quick to reload.
There’s a possibility that Bungie might not let these perks combine, but given past experiences with mods and perks, this combination should function as intended.
