Ubisoft Developers Pushed For Assassin's Creed Shadows Delay - Report

As a seasoned gamer with years of gaming history under my belt, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and patience when it comes to Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Delays are never ideal, but as someone who has seen their fair share of rushed releases, I understand the importance of taking the time to get things right.

Previously scheduled for release in November of this year, Assassin’s Creed Shadows was recently delayed by Ubisoft until early next year. However, it appears that this wasn’t an unexpected move for Ubisoft Quebec, the studio responsible for Shadows. According to a recent report, the developers have been advocating for a delay for several months.

Ubisoft’s announcement revealed that they moved the launch date for Shadows to provide more time for fine-tuning the gameplay and to apply lessons from Star Wars Outlaws’ underwhelming debut. According to Inside Gaming, both reasons hold merit, as the game is not yet ready for release at this stage. It’s reported that Assassin’s Creed Shadow has only managed to sell approximately 1 million copies so far.

There are some persistent issues left to address, primarily to eliminate lingering bugs. Yet, it seems the main challenges stem from ensuring the narrative’s historical authenticity. It’s been mentioned that these last-minute alterations were necessitated by the arrival of historical consultants later than expected for a project this significant.

As a gamer, I must admit that Ubisoft’s recent shift in strategy has brought a breath of fresh air. Instead of launching their new games exclusively on consoles and Steam at the same time, they’ve decided to listen to their team and change course. This is something many of us gamers have been asking for, and it’s great to see a big name like Ubisoft responding positively to our feedback.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows will hit consoles and PC on February 14, 2025.
