Les Valseurs Boards Akson Studio’s ‘Chopin! Chopin!’ Biopic, Shooting in Bordeaux (EXCLUSIVE)

As a film enthusiast with a deep appreciation for history and art, I am thrilled to witness the collaboration between Les Valseurs and Akson Studio on the period feature “Chopin! Chopin!”. Having lived in Bordeaux for some time now, I can attest to its growing status as one of Europe’s most sought-after filming locations. It’s fascinating to see how a city that has largely maintained its historic charm serves as a perfect backdrop for period productions.

The Bordeaux company, Les Valseurs, known for producing the short film “Nefta Football Club,” which was nominated for an Oscar with Yves Piat, has now joined forces with Akson Studio to serve as the line producer for their historical feature film titled “Chopin! Chopin!

1830s Paris serves as the backdrop for this film, which delves into the intricate interplay of Chopin’s personal and career experiences across eleven separate episodes. It also offers a glimpse into the vibrant artistic community thriving in Paris during that era.

The film titled “Chopin! Chopin!” is helmed by Michał Kwieciński and features Eryk Kulm, Josephine de la Baume, and Lambert Wilson in leading roles. This production comes from Akson Studio, a Warsaw-based company known for producing Andrzej Wajda’s Oscar-nominated films “Katyń” and “Warsaw 44”. Polish Television is also involved as a co-producer.

Charles Audinet, a line producer at Les Valseurs, announces that they are venturing into production services with the cry of ‘Chopin! Chopin!’ This move blends our commitment to global greatness with a heartfelt love for local movies. Bordeaux is rapidly emerging as a significant hub for high-profile film productions, and we’re thrilled to be leading this evolution,” says Charles Audinet.

The company indicates that Bordeaux is rapidly gaining popularity as a preferred filming site across Europe, particularly for period dramas. Instead of undergoing modernization and urban development like many other cities, Bordeaux has preserved its historical charm, enabling it to effectively substitute as a backdrop for significant European cities from the past.
