As a seasoned Destiny 2 gamer with countless hours under my belt, I must admit that the recent announcement about weapon crafting changes has left me feeling a tad disheartened. For years, crafting has been my go-to method for obtaining the perfect weapon rolls, a respite from the monotonous grind of chasing after elusive god rolls.
Players are expressing disappointment, as it has been announced that Destiny 2 is set to introduce substantial modifications to its weapon crafting system upon the release of Episode Revenant on October 8th.
During a live broadcast on October 1st, Bungie revealed that weapons introduced along with Revenant won’t be immediately craftable. Instead, players will have to depend solely on chance to obtain the best possible versions of these seasonal weapons, often referred to as “god rolls”.
In a recent blog post on September 9th, Bungie confirmed that they are not eliminating the weapon crafting feature. Instead, they plan to utilize it as a means for players to obtain rolls they missed from the initial sources, essentially giving them more opportunities to find the ideal roll for their weapons, which might take additional time.
“We want crafting to support the weapon chase, and not replace it,” it continued.
Despite the given assurance, public opinion regarding the October 1 unveiling took a significant dip. On Reddit, one post expressed strong disapproval of the changes: “For someone who doesn’t play this game full-time, removing crafting is the most ill-advised move they could have made.
Despite the clarification that crafting wouldn’t be eliminated completely, it didn’t succeed much in dampening the negativity surrounding the issue.
Even though, it’s still a poor choice. I prefer putting in effort to customize a weapon’s blueprint according to my preference rather than repeatedly grinding for the perfect ‘god roll’, which I find incredibly monotonous.
He suggested it might not matter if we keep it or not,” he commented further. “What you’re saying is that I won’t be able to create weapons from Revenant until the next update, right? That seems hard to believe!
It’s uncertain if this uproar will cause Bungie to change their mind, but given that they are open to feedback, it’s worth keeping an eye on for any possible adjustments they might make in the future.
