As a fellow entertainment industry enthusiast, I can’t help but feel deeply saddened by the loss of Karen Gorman. Her contributions to television and the entertainment world were not only prolific but also genuinely heartwarming. From her behind-the-scenes work on “Glee” to her role in shows like “Bones,” “The Mindy Project,” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” Karen’s impact was far-reaching and undeniable.

Karen Gorman, a TV producer, died this week after battling breast cancer at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in LA, according to her publicist who spoke to EbMaster. She was 59.)

Originating from Toronto and growing up in Los Angeles, Gorman kick-started her career working alongside Pat Kingsley at PMK Public Relations. Later, she moved into television production, handling segment producer positions at E! Entertainment Television and Access Hollywood.

At Fox Broadcasting, she gained recognition for crafting backstage content for Ryan Murphy’s successful show “Glee.” Her videos on YouTube garnered millions of views, making her fan-adored interviews with the stars a favorite. A crucial component of the “Glee” promotional strategy, Gorman’s friendly, welcoming demeanor made the actors feel at ease and comfortable enough to share openly during these interviews. She also worked on popular shows like “Bones,” “The Mindy Project,” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” at Fox, and produced and directed additional behind-the-scenes content for numerous other productions, including the Showtime series “Homeland.

Beyond her roles as a journalist, Gorman has also been involved in producing reality shows. She was a key figure in the creation of VH1’s “You Rock With…” and served as executive producer for Facebook’s “Ladies First with Grace Helbig.” Her work portfolio includes All3Media America, Discovery, and Studio71, where she took charge as an executive producer and director for Snapchat series such as “Keepin’ It Real With Keke Palmer,” “Step by Step With Matt Steffanina,” and “Worst Firsts With Brittany Furlan.

She passed away before her brothers, animator Alexx Van Dyne (who was 61 when he passed in May 2023) and Kerry Gorman (who tragically died at the age of 37 in 1992).
