Nintendo's Pikmin Are (Sort of) Visiting The San Diego Zoo

As a long-time fan of the Pikmin series, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement at the news that these charming creatures are coming to life (sort of) at the San Diego Zoo! Growing up with Pikmin, their unique personalities and adorable appearances have always captivated me, making them an integral part of my gaming experiences.

It’s been a decade since Pikmin 3 was released, and fans have had to wait until last year for Pikmin 4. However, the wait for these beloved creatures is nearly over, as they are (essentially) stepping into reality. Starting today, the Pikmin characters will be appearing at the San Diego Zoo as part of an extended collaboration with Nintendo.

In line with the announcement, individuals of all ages are cordially invited to embark on a journey to the San Diego Zoo, located in sunny California. The mission: discover the elusive Pikmin scattered throughout the zoo! These adorable creatures have been strategically placed to inspire younger guests and foster a greater love for nature and the animals that inhabit the wild.

Besides this, there’ll be a My Nintendo booth set up at the San Diego Zoo inside the Pikmin pop-up tent. Registered users of Nintendo accounts will have the opportunity to collect 100 My Nintendo Platinum Points from this kiosk. Visitors can also grab a “Nintendo gift bag” from the pop-up area by completing simple tasks such as locating and snapping photos of a Pikmin within the zoo. Later, these Platinum points can be redeemed for real-life rewards on the My Nintendo website.

The Pikmin sale continues at the San Diego Zoo until November 28, but the Pikmin pop-up booth will wrap up on November 24 ahead of schedule.
